你們不要聽希西家的話；因為亞述王這麼說：「你們要向我祝福請安，出來投降我，各人就可以喫自己葡萄樹、自己無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水；

他們善於拉弓，能用左手右手甩石射箭；都是便雅憫人掃羅的族弟兄。

你們要呼求我，要來禱告我，我就聽你們。你們要尋求我、而尋見；你們若全心地尋找我，

慷慨的、許多人求他的情面；愛送禮的、人都做他的朋友。

你呼求我，我就應你，將你所不知的、一些又大又難作到的事指示你。

暗中送的禮物能平息怒氣；懷裏搋的賄賂能抑止烈怒。

你使我們受苦了多少日，求你也使我們歡喜了多少日；你使我們經見了患難多少年，求你也使我們喜樂了多少年。

在患難的日子你要呼求我，我便救拔你；你就榮耀我。』

但是有些無賴子說：『這傢伙怎能拯救我們呢？』就藐視他，沒有給他送禮物。

人的禮物使他的路寬闊，引他到大人物面前。
