他們卻忘記了耶和華他們的神，神就把他們交在夏瑣的將軍西西拉的手中，以及非利士人和摩押王的手中，於是這些人常常攻打他們。

可是士師死了以後，他們就轉而行惡，比他們的列祖更厲害，去隨從別的神，事奉和敬拜他們，總不放棄他們的惡行和頑梗的行徑。

王啊！你就是那樹，越來越偉大堅強；你的威勢漸長，高達於天；你的權柄直到地極。

耶和華說：‘難道你沒有聽見古時我所安排，往昔所計劃的嗎？現在我才使它成就，使堅固的城鎮荒廢，變作亂堆。

亞蘭王的軍長乃縵在他的主人面前是一個大人物，很得王的賞識，因為耶和華曾藉他把勝利賜給亞蘭。這個人是個勇猛的戰士，可惜他是個痲風病人。

耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作，就把他們交在搶掠的人手中，他們就搶掠他們；他又把他們完全交在他們四圍的仇敵手中，以致他們在仇敵面前再不能站立得住。

斧頭怎可以向用斧頭砍木的人自誇呢？鋸子怎可以向拉鋸的人自大呢？好比棍能揮動那舉起棍的，又好比杖舉起那不是木頭的。

“以法蓮啊！我要怎樣待你呢？猶大啊，我要怎樣待你呢？你們的愛心像早晨的雲霧；又像瞬即消逝的朝露。

以色列人行了耶和華看為惡的事，去事奉眾巴力；

你必上來攻擊我的子民以色列，像密雲遮蓋那地一樣。歌革啊！在以後的日子，我必領你來攻擊我的地，好叫列國在我藉著你向他們顯為聖的時候，能認識我。

“我耶和華所膏立的古列，我緊握著他的右手，使列國降服在他面前；我也鬆開列王的腰帶；我使門戶在他面前敞開，使城門不得關閉；耶和華對古列這樣說：我必親自領導你，把高低不平的路修平；銅門，我必打破；鐵門，我必砍斷。我必把隱藏的寶物和在隱密處的財寶賜給你，使你知道我就是按著你的名呼召了你的耶和華，以色列的神。因我的僕人雅各和我所揀選的以色列的緣故，我按著你的名呼召了你；你雖然不認識我，我卻給你這個尊貴的名號。

耶穌說：“如果不是從天上給你權柄，你就無權辦我；因此，把我交給你的那人，罪更重了。”

王啊！至高的神曾把國位、權勢、光榮和威嚴賜給你先祖尼布甲尼撒。

然而我使你存留，是為了使你看見我的能力，並且在全地上傳講我的名。
