如其父兄赴愬於我、我則曰、請爾施恩、以之予我、蓋昔戰時、我不留女以為其妻、今亦非爾所妻、若然、則為有罪、

其父兄就我以告、我必曰、請爾施恩於眾、昔戰鬥之時、我不遺女為其妻、今彼得女、非爾所與、故爾無辜。

如其父兄就我儕而爭論、我儕則曰、求爾為我施恩於彼、昔我儕與彼戰時、不留女為其妻、或作昔我儕徵伐基列之雅比不為便雅憫各人得妻求爾以女予我況爾非自以女予之、不至有罪、

Their fathers or brothers might not be happy with what we’re doing. If they aren’t, we’ll say to them,‘ Do us a favor. Help the men of Benjamin. We didn’t get wives for them during the battle. You aren’t guilty of doing anything wrong. After all, you didn’t give your daughters to them. Your daughters were stolen from you.’ ”

And when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, we will say to them,‘ Grant them graciously to us, because we did not take for each man of them his wife in battle, neither did you give them to them, else you would now be guilty.’”

Let them have your daughters, for we didn’t find wives for all of them when we destroyed Jabesh gilead. And you are not guilty of breaking the vow since you did not actually give your daughters to them in marriage.’”

And it shall be, when their fathers or their brethren come to complain unto us, that we will say unto them, Grant them graciously unto us, because we took not for each man of them his wife in battle, neither did ye give them unto them, else would ye now be guilty.

When their fathers or brothers come and protest to us, we’ll say to them,“ Do us a favor and let them be, for we could not get each one a wife through battle. Don’t worry about breaking your oath! You would only be guilty if you had voluntarily given them wives.’”

It shall be, when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, that we will say to them,‘ Grant them graciously to us, because we didn’t take for each man his wife in battle, neither did you give them to them; otherwise you would now be guilty.’”

The men of Israel had taken an oath at Mizpah:“ Not one of us will give his daughter in marriage to a Benjamite.”

We can’t give them our daughters as wives, since we Israelites have taken this oath:‘ Cursed be anyone who gives a wife to a Benjamite.’

“ How can we provide wives for those who are left, since we have taken an oath by the Lord not to give them any of our daughters in marriage?”

On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows.

“ But at the beginning of creation God‘ made them male and female.’‘ For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

But since sexual immorality is occurring, each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband.

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

So the Benjamites returned at that time and were given the women of Jabesh Gilead who had been spared. But there were not enough for all of them.

yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love.
