「你們要謹慎自守，免得你們的心因宴樂、醉酒和今生的憂慮變得遲鈍，那日子就會像網羅一樣突然臨到你們，

惡人的道路卻如幽暗黑夜，他們不知道被什麼絆倒。

你們要告訴義人，他們會一切平順，因為他們必吃自己行為所結的果實。惡人卻有禍了，他們必遭災難，因為他們手所做的必回報到自己身上。

當人們正說「和平」、「安全」的時候，毀滅那時就突然臨到他們，就像孕婦的臨產陣痛那樣，他們絕不能逃脫。

你們為了這緣故也應當做好準備，因為在你們意想不到的時候，人子就來了。

因為沒有迅速執行對惡行的判決，所以世人的心裡就充滿了作惡的念頭；即使罪人作惡百次仍享長壽，然而我知道，敬畏神的人日子美好，因他們在神面前心存敬畏；

惡人因過犯而落入陷阱，而義人將會歡唱、歡喜。

原來人並不知道自己的定時：魚怎樣被惡網抓住，鳥怎樣被網羅捉住，當禍患突然來臨的時候，世人也照樣陷在其中。
