他們幸福度過他們的日子，一剎那間下陰間，毫無病痛。

但災禍必臨到你身上，你卻不知道它的來源；禍患必落在你身上，你卻不能把它除去；毀滅必忽然臨到你身上，你卻不知道。

“你們應當自己小心，免得在貪食醉酒和生活的掛慮壓住你們的心的時候，那日子突然臨到你們，

惡人的道路幽暗，他們不知道自己因甚麼跌倒。

你們要告訴義人，他們必得福樂，因為他們必享自己行為所結的果子。惡人卻有禍了，他們必遭災難，因為他們必按自己手所作的得報應。

人正在說平安穩妥的時候，毀滅性的災禍就突然臨到他們，好像生產的痛苦臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕不能逃脫。

所以，你們也要準備妥當，因為在想不到的時候，人子就來了。

對惡行已判定的刑罰遲遲沒有執行，世人的心就充滿行惡的意圖。罪人既然作惡百次，還享長壽，那麼我知道敬畏神的人，就是在他面前存敬畏的心的，必享福樂。

惡人因為過犯，陷於網羅；義人卻歡呼喜樂。

原來人並不知道自己的時機，正像魚被惡網圈住，鳥被網羅捉住，險惡的時機忽然臨到世人身上的時候，世人也照樣陷在其中。
