那夜，耶和華對基甸說：「起來，下去攻營，因我已把它交在你手中。

因為耶和華－你的上帝從你眾支派中揀選他，使他和他子孫永遠奉耶和華的名侍立、事奉。

亞倫的兒子以利亞撒也死了，他們把他葬在他兒子非尼哈所得以法蓮山區的小山上。

非尼哈祭司與會眾中的領袖，就是與他同來那些以色列族系的領袖，聽見呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人所說的話，就都看為美。以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈對呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人說：「今日我們知道耶和華在我們中間，因為你們沒有向他犯悖逆的罪。現在你們把以色列人從耶和華的手中救出來了。」以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈與眾領袖離開了呂便人和迦得人，從基列地回迦南地，到了以色列人那裏，就把這事向他們回報。

大衛又再求問耶和華，耶和華回答說：「你起身下基伊拉去，我必將非利士人交在你手裏。」於是大衛和他的人往基伊拉去，與非利士人打仗，大大擊敗他們，奪取他們的牲畜。這樣，大衛救了基伊拉的居民。亞希米勒的兒子亞比亞他逃往基伊拉到大衛那裏的時候，手裏拿着以弗得。有人告訴掃羅，大衛到了基伊拉。掃羅說：「上帝將他交在我手裏了，因為他進了有門有閂的城，把自己關起來了。」於是掃羅召集眾百姓，要下去攻打基伊拉，圍困大衛和他的人。大衛知道掃羅設計陷害他，就對亞比亞他祭司說：「把以弗得拿過來。」大衛說：「耶和華－以色列的上帝啊，你僕人確實聽見掃羅設法要到基伊拉來，為我的緣故毀滅這城。基伊拉人會把我交在掃羅手裏嗎？掃羅會下來，正如你僕人所聽見的嗎？耶和華－以色列的上帝啊，求你指示僕人！」耶和華說：「他會下來。」大衛又說：「基伊拉人會把我和我的人交在掃羅手裏嗎？」耶和華說：「他們會交出來。」

猶大和耶路撒冷人哪，這次你們不要爭戰，要擺陣站着，看耶和華為你們施行拯救。不要恐懼，也不要驚惶。明日當出去迎敵，因為耶和華與你們同在。』」

耶和華啊，我知道人的道路不由自己，行路的人也不能定自己的腳步。

你要專心仰賴耶和華，不可倚靠自己的聰明，在你一切所行的路上都要認定他，他必使你的道路平直。

耶和華說：「猶大要先上去。看哪，我已將那地交在他手中。」

耶和華的怒氣向烏撒發作；上帝因這冒犯在那裏擊打他，他就死在那裏，在上帝的約櫃旁。大衛因耶和華突然衝出撞死烏撒就生氣，稱那地方為毗列斯‧烏撒，直到今日。那日，大衛懼怕耶和華，說：「耶和華的約櫃怎可到我這裏來呢？」於是大衛不願將耶和華的約櫃接進大衛城他自己的地方，卻轉送到迦特人俄別‧以東的家中。耶和華的約櫃停在迦特人俄別‧以東家中三個月，耶和華賜福給俄別‧以東和他的全家。有人告訴大衛王說：「耶和華因約櫃的緣故賜福給俄別‧以東的家和一切屬他的。」大衛就去，歡歡喜喜地將上帝的約櫃從俄別‧以東家中接上來，到大衛城裏。

約書亞說：「唉！主耶和華啊，你為甚麼領這百姓過約旦河，把我們交在亞摩利人手中，使我們滅亡呢？我們不如住在約旦河的那邊！

以色列人派以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈，往基列地，到呂便人、迦得人和瑪拿西半支派的人那裏。

大衛求問耶和華說：「我追趕這羣人，是否追得上呢？」耶和華對他說：「你可以追，一定追得上，也一定救得回來。」

大衛求問耶和華說：「我可以上去攻打非利士人嗎？你將他們交在我手裏嗎？」耶和華對大衛說：「你可以上去，我必將非利士人交在你手裏。」大衛來到巴力‧毗拉心，在那裏擊敗了非利士人。他說：「耶和華在我面前沖破敵人，如水沖破一樣。」因此他稱那地方為巴力‧毗拉心。非利士人把偶像拋棄在那裏，大衛和他的人拿去了。非利士人又上來，散佈在利乏音谷。大衛求問耶和華；耶和華說：「不要直上，要繞到他們後頭，從桑樹林對面攻打他們。你聽見桑樹梢上有腳步的聲音，就要急速前去，因為那時耶和華已經出去，在你前頭攻打非利士人的軍隊了。」

掃羅求問上帝說：「我可以下去追趕非利士人嗎？你把他們交在以色列人手裏嗎？」這日上帝沒有回答他。

亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會眾中起來，手裏拿着槍，跟這以色列人進入帳棚，刺穿了二人，就是以色列人和那女子的肚腹。這樣，以色列人遭受的瘟疫就停止了。遭瘟疫死的，有二萬四千人。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的憤怒轉離以色列人，因為在他們中間，他以我的妒忌為他的妒忌，使我不在妒忌中毀滅以色列人。因此，你要說：『看哪，我將我平安的約賜給他。這是他和他的後裔永遠當祭司職任的約，因他為了上帝而妒忌，他為以色列人贖罪。』」

他們將上帝的約櫃從山岡上亞比拿達的家裏抬出來，放在新車上；亞比拿達的兒子烏撒和亞希約趕這新車。
