因為永恆主你的上帝從你的眾族派中將他揀選出來，使他和他的子孫日日不斷地奉永恆主的名站着供職。

亞倫的兒子以利亞撒也死了；人把他埋葬在基比亞、他兒子非尼哈的小山上，就是非尼哈在以法蓮山地所得的業。

那時永恆主將利未族派分別出來，來抬永恆主的約櫃，來站在永恆主面前伺候他，來奉他的名祝福，直到今日還這樣行。

祭司非尼哈和會眾的首領、跟以色列族系中的領袖、就是和他一同來的、聽見了如便人、迦得人、和瑪拿西人所說的話，都很滿意。祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈對如便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人說：『今天我們才知道永恆主究竟在我們中間，因為你們對永恆主並沒有這樣不忠實；現在你們簡直是援救了以色列人脫離永恆主的手了。』祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈和首領們、離開了如便人和迦得人，從基列地回迦南地，到了以色列人那裏，向他們報告，

於是大衛又求問永恆主。永恆主回答說：『你只管起身、下基伊拉去；我必將非利士人交在你手裏。』大衛和跟從他的人就往基伊拉去、跟非利士人交戰，將他們的牲畜趕走，在他們中間大行擊殺；這樣、大衛就拯救了基伊拉的居民。亞希米勒的兒子亞比亞他逃到基伊拉去見大衛的時候，是手裏拿着「神諭像」下去的。有人告訴掃羅說：『大衛到了基伊拉了』；掃羅說：『他進了有門有閂的城，自己關閉在裏頭；這是上帝將他交付於我手了。』於是掃羅呼召眾民去赴戰、去下基伊拉、圍困大衛和跟從他的人。大衛知道掃羅設毒計要害他，就對祭司亞比亞他說：『將神諭像拿近前來。』大衛說：『永恆主以色列的上帝啊，你僕人確實聽見為了我的緣故掃羅要到基伊拉來毁壞這城。掃羅會不會照僕人所聽到的下來呢？永恆主以色列的上帝啊，求你告訴僕人。』永恆主說：『掃羅必下來。』大衛又說：『基伊拉公民會不會將我和跟從我的人送交掃羅手裏呢？』永恆主說：『會送交的。』

猶大和耶路撒冷人哪，這次你們不必爭戰，只要各守己位、站着，看永恆主為你們所取得的勝利。」你們不要懼怕，不要驚慌；明天要出去迎敵；永恆主和你們同在。』

永恆主啊，我曉得人的行程是不由自己的；人不能行走而定自己的腳步。

你要全心仰賴着永恆主，不可依靠你自己的聰明；在你一切所行的路上、你都要認定他，他就使你的路徑平直。

永恆主說：『猶大要上去；看吧，我已把那地交在他手中了。』

永恆主向烏撒發怒；上帝因了他的冒失、就在那裏擊打他，他就在那裏死在上帝的櫃旁。為了永恆主突然殺死烏撒的緣故，大衛就發怒，因此那地方到今日還叫做毘列斯烏撒。那一天大衛懼怕永恆主，說：『永恆主的櫃怎可到我這裏來呢？』於是大衛不肯將永恆主的櫃運進大衛城到他那裏，卻轉而運到迦特人俄別以東的住宅。永恆主的櫃停在迦特人俄別以東的住宅三個月；永恆主賜福與俄別以東和他全家。有人告訴大衛王說：『永恆主為了上帝的櫃的緣故而賜福與俄別以東的家和一切屬他的』；大衛就去，歡歡喜喜地將上帝的櫃從俄別以東住宅接上大衛城。

約書亞說：『哀啊，主永恆主啊，你為甚麼竟領這人民過約但河、將我們交在亞摩利人手中、使我們滅亡呢？巴不得我們住在約但河東那邊倒還甘心呢！

以色列人打發了祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈往基列地、去見如便人、迦得人、和瑪拿西半族派的人，

大衛就求問永恆主說：『我可以追趕這羣匪幫麼？我追得上追不上呢？』永恆主對他說：『你可以追趕；一定追得上，並且一定搶救得來。』

大衛求問永恆主說：『我可以上去攻打非利士人麼？你將他們交在我手裏麼？』永恆主對大衛說：『你可以上去；我一定將非利士人交在你手裏。』大衛來到巴力毘拉心；就在那裏擊敗了非利士人，說：『永恆主在我面前沖破了我的仇敵，如同水沖破了堤岸一般。因此他給那地方起名叫巴力毘拉心。非利士人將他們的偶像撇在那裏，大衛和跟隨的人給拿走了。非利士人又再上來，在利乏音山谷四散侵掠。大衛求問永恆主，永恆主說：『你不要一直上去；要繞到他們後頭，從桑樹林對面去攻打他們。你一聽見桑樹梢上有腳步聲，就要猛銳行動，因為那時永恆主已在你前頭去攻擊非利士人的軍兵了。』

掃羅求問上帝說：『我下去追趕非利士人可以不可以？你將他們交在以色列人手裏不交？』這一天上帝沒有回答他。

祭司亞倫的孫子以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會眾中起來，手裏拿着槍，跟着那以色列人進圓拱帳幕，把他們兩個人刺死，就是刺死那以色列人和那女人，槍由肚子裏透過去。這樣、疫症就從以色列人中制住了。那時因疫症而死的、有二萬四千人。永恆主告訴摩西說：『祭司亞倫的孫子以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈使我向以色列人所發的烈怒轉消，因他在他們中間以妒愛熱情愛我，使我因妒愛熱情不把以色列人滅盡。故此你要說：「看哪，我將我和平之約給他，要做他和他以後的苗裔永遠擔當祭司職任的約，因為他對他的上帝有妒愛熱情，並且為以色列人除罪。」』

他們將上帝的櫃套在一輛新車上，從山岡上亞比拿達家裏抬出來；亞比拿達的兒子烏撒和亞希約趕着這新車。
