你要全心依靠耶和華，不要依賴自己的悟性；在你一切的道路上，都要認定他，他就會修直你的路。

耶和華的怒氣就向烏撒發作，神因這過失而擊殺他，他就當場死在神的約櫃面前。大衛很惱火，因為耶和華向烏撒怒氣爆發。因此那地方被稱為佩勒斯-烏撒，直到今天。那一天，大衛懼怕耶和華，他說：「耶和華的約櫃怎能到我這裡來呢？」大衛不願意把耶和華的約櫃遷移到大衛城自己那裡，於是把它轉運到迦特人俄別·以東的家。耶和華的約櫃停留在迦特人俄別·以東的家三個月，耶和華祝福了俄別·以東和他全家。有人告訴大衛王說：「因神約櫃的緣故，耶和華祝福了俄別·以東的家和一切屬於他的。」大衛就去，歡歡喜喜把神的約櫃從俄別·以東家裡帶上來，帶到大衛城。

大衛求問耶和華說：「我該去追趕這些匪徒嗎？我能追上他們嗎？」耶和華回答他：「去追趕，你必定追上，必定把一切救回來。」

大衛求問耶和華，說：「我可以上去攻打非利士人嗎？你會把他們交在我手中嗎？」耶和華對大衛說：「上去吧，我一定把非利士人交在你手中。」於是大衛來到巴力批拉津，大衛在那裡擊敗了他們，他說：「耶和華在我面前沖潰我的仇敵，如同洪水沖破堤岸。」因此他給那地方起名為巴力批拉津。非利士人把他們的偶像遺棄在那裡，大衛和他的部下就把它們清除了。非利士人再次上來，散布在利乏音谷。大衛求問耶和華，耶和華說：「不要直接上去，要繞到他們後面，從桑樹林對面進攻他們。當你聽到桑樹林的樹梢上有行進聲，就要趕快行動，因為那時耶和華已經在你前面出去攻打非利士人的軍隊了。」

掃羅就求問神：「我可以下去追趕非利士人嗎？你會把他們交在以色列人手中嗎？」那一天，神沒有回應他。
