Then all the Israelites, the whole army, went up to Bethel, and there they sat weeping before the Lord. They fasted that day until evening and presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to the Lord.

約沙法懼、決意尋求耶和華、於猶大全地、宣告禁食、

當定禁食之日、宣告肅會、召集長老、及居斯土之眾、入爾上帝耶和華室、呼籲耶和華、

尼尼微民信上帝、宣告禁食、自尊逮卑、皆衣麻焉、斯音傳至尼尼微王、遂起、下位解袍、衣麻坐於灰塵、乃與諸伯出諭、布告尼尼微曰、或人或畜、牛羣羊羣、俱勿嘗食、勿食勿飲、人畜俱披麻、眾皆切求上帝、各轉離其惡途、去其手之強暴、上帝或回心轉意、息其烈怒、俾我不亡、亦未可知、上帝見其所為、咸離惡途、乃回厥意、不降所言之災、

遂集於米斯巴、汲水傾於耶和華前、是日禁食、曰、我獲罪於耶和華、撒母耳在米斯巴、為以色列族聽訟、
