Then all Israel from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came together as one and assembled before the Lord in Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites came out. They came from the whole land between Dan and Beersheba. They also came from the land of Gilead. All of them gathered together in front of the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the people of Israel came out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites were united as one man, from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, including those from across the Jordan in the land of Gilead. The entire community assembled in the presence of the Lord at Mizpah.

以色列人彼此问说：“以色列各支派中，谁没有同会众上到耶和华面前来呢？”先是以色列人起过大誓说，凡不上米斯巴到耶和华面前来的，必将他治死。

大卫就吩咐跟随他的元帅约押说：“你去走遍以色列众支派，从但直到别是巴，数点百姓，我好知道他们的数目。”

到了七月，以色列人住在自己的城里。那时，他们如同一人聚集在水门前的宽阔处，请文士以斯拉将耶和华藉摩西传给以色列人的律法书带来。

撒母耳说：“要使以色列众人聚集在米斯巴，我好为你们祷告耶和华。”他们就聚集在米斯巴，打水浇在耶和华面前，当日禁食，说：“我们得罪了耶和华。”于是撒母耳在米斯巴审判以色列人。

于是定了命令，传遍以色列，从别是巴直到但，使他们都来，在耶路撒冷向耶和华以色列的神守逾越节；因为照所写的例，守这节的不多了。

玛拿西是约瑟的长子，他的支派拈阄所得之地记在下面。至于玛拿西的长子基列之父玛吉，因为是勇士就得了基列和巴珊。

立他作王，治理基列、亚书利、耶斯列、以法莲、便雅悯，和以色列众人。

以色列众人就上到伯特利，坐在耶和华面前哭号，当日禁食直到晚上；又在耶和华面前献燔祭和平安祭。

如此就挽回犹大众人的心，如同一人的心。他们便打发人去见王，说：“请王和王的一切臣仆回来。”

照着他们始祖以色列之子但的名字，给那城起名叫但；原先那城名叫拉亿。

到了七月，以色列人住在各城；那时他们如同一人，聚集在耶路撒冷。

以色列人就起来，到伯特利去求问神说：“我们中间谁当首先上去与便雅悯人争战呢？”耶和华说：“犹大当先上去。”

当时亚扪人聚集，安营在基列。以色列人也聚集，安营在米斯巴。

大卫就吩咐约押和民中的首领说：“你们去数点以色列人，从别是巴直到但，回来告诉我，我好知道他们的数目。”

于是以色列众人彼此连合如同一人，聚集攻击那城。

众军长和属他们的人听见巴比伦王立了基大利作省长，于是军长尼探雅的儿子以实玛利、加利亚的儿子约哈难、尼陀法人单户篾的儿子西莱雅、玛迦人的儿子雅撒尼亚，和属他们的人都到米斯巴见基大利。

众民都起来如同一人，说：“我们连一人都不回自己帐棚、自己房屋去。

以色列民的首领，就是各支派的军长，都站在神百姓的会中；拿刀的步兵共有四十万。

流便子孙和迦得子孙的牲畜极其众多；他们看见雅谢地和基列地是可牧放牲畜之地，

他将一对牛切成块子，托付使者传送以色列的全境，说：“凡不出来跟随扫罗和撒母耳的，也必这样切开他的牛。”于是耶和华使百姓惧怕，他们就都出来，如同一人。扫罗在比色数点他们：以色列人有三十万，犹大人有三万。

“在耶和华你神所赐你居住的各城中，你若听人说，有些匪类从你们中间的一座城出来勾引本城的居民，说：‘我们不如去侍奉你们素来所不认识的别神’；
