Then all Israel from Dan to Beersheba and from the land of Gilead came together as one and assembled before the Lord in Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites came out. They came from the whole land between Dan and Beersheba. They also came from the land of Gilead. All of them gathered together in front of the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the people of Israel came out, from Dan to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah.

Then all the Israelites were united as one man, from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south, including those from across the Jordan in the land of Gilead. The entire community assembled in the presence of the Lord at Mizpah.

以色列全軍來到伯特利，坐在耶和華面前哀哭，那天他們一直禁食到晚上，又在耶和華面前獻上燔祭和平安祭。

王的這番話打動了所有猶大人的心，他們派人去請王和王的臣僕回來。

這座城原來叫拉億，他們用祖先以色列的兒子但的名字為該城重新命名。

眾人起來異口同聲地說：「我們誰也不回帳篷，誰也不回家。

以色列各支派的首領都參加了這次上帝子民的聚會，當時有四十萬持刀的步兵。

呂便和迦得的子孫有許多牲畜，他們見雅謝和基列適於放牧，

牽來兩頭牛，把牠們切成碎塊，然後派使者把碎塊分發到以色列全境，並且宣佈：「誰拒絕跟隨掃羅和撒母耳出戰，他的牛就要被砍成這樣。」上帝使百姓充滿恐懼，他們都同心合意地回應。掃羅在比色統計以色列人，共有三十萬，從猶大來的有三萬。

「在你們的上帝耶和華將要賜給你們居住的各城中，如果你們聽說某城裡有惡人引誘城中的居民偏離正路，唆使他們去供奉你們不認識的神明，
