And I have also said,‘ I will not drive them out before you; they will become traps for you, and their gods will become snares to you.’”

I have said something else. I said,‘ I will not drive out those people to make room for you. They and their gods will become traps for you.’ ”

So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.”

So now I declare that I will no longer drive out the people living in your land. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a constant temptation to you.”

Therefore, I now say: I will not drive out these people before you. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a trap for you.”

Therefore I also said,‘ I will not drive them out from you; but they will become like thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a snare to you.’ ”

Therefore I also said,‘ I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’”

Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

“‘ But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live. (niv)

You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God gives over to you. Do not look on them with pity and do not serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you. (niv)

They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. (niv)

They took their daughters in marriage and gave their own daughters to their sons, and served their gods. (niv)

Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. (niv)

King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter— Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites,“ You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been.He followed Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites.So Solomon did evil in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.On a hill east of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the detestable god of Moab, and for Molek the detestable god of the Ammonites.
