I will use them to test Israel and see whether they will keep the way of the Lord and walk in it as their ancestors did.”

你也不可听那先知或是那做梦之人的话；因为这是耶和华你们的神试验你们，要知道你们是尽心尽性爱耶和华你们的神不是。

鼎为炼银，炉为炼金；惟有耶和华熬炼人心。

耶和华留下这几族，为要试验那不曾知道与迦南争战之事的以色列人，好叫以色列的后代又知道又学习未曾晓得的战事。所留下的就是非利士的五个首领和一切迦南人、西顿人，并住黎巴嫩山的希未人，从巴力黑们山直到哈马口。留下这几族，为要试验以色列人，知道他们肯听从耶和华藉摩西吩咐他们列祖的诫命不肯。

惟有一件事，就是巴比伦王差遣使者来见希西家，访问国中所现的奇事；这件事神离开他，要试验他，好知道他心内如何。

神啊，你曾试验我们，熬炼我们，如熬炼银子一样。

然而他知道我所行的路；他试炼我之后，我必如精金。
