I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations Joshua left when he died.

Joshua left some nations in the land when he died. I will no longer drive out those nations to make room for Israel.

These nations are: the five governors of the Philistines and all the Canaanites and the Sidonians, and the Hivites who lived on Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal hermon as far as Lebo hamath.

because they had not complied with My ordinances, but had rejected My statutes and had profaned My Sabbaths, and their eyes were on the idols of their fathers.
