The LORD’s angelic messenger went up from Gilgal to Bokim. He said,“ I brought you up from Egypt and led you into the land I had solemnly promised to give to your ancestors. I said,‘ I will never break my agreement with you,

Yahweh’s angel came up from Gilgal to Bochim. He said,“ I brought you out of Egypt, and have brought you to the land which I swore to give your fathers. I said,‘ I will never break my covenant with you.

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”

then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, and I will remember my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.

“ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

“ Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.

Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said,“ To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built there an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father.I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,

And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her,“ Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.

Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, and by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

and said,“ By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies,

Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not spurn them, neither will I abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break my covenant with them, for I am the Lord their God.

Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.And the Lord said to Satan,“ The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?”

So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her,“ You are a God of seeing,” for she said,“ Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.”

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

And Joshua said,“ Here is how you shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

And they called the name of that place Bochim. And they sacrificed there to the Lord.

And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the Lord!

Now the angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the winepress to hide it from the Midianites.And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him,“ The Lord is with you, O mighty man of valor.”

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.

And he said,“ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,

And I took my staff Favor, and I broke it, annulling the covenant that I had made with all the peoples.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, a year for each day, you shall bear your iniquity forty years, and you shall know my displeasure.’

Do not spurn us, for your name’s sake; do not dishonor your glorious throne; remember and do not break your covenant with us.

When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a man was standing before him with his drawn sword in his hand. “ Thus says the Lord: If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time,then also my covenant with David my servant may be broken, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with the Levitical priests my ministers.

But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said,“ Abraham, Abraham!” And he said,“ Here I am.”He said,“ Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.

The angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur.And he said,“ Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said,“ I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.”The angel of the Lord said to her,“ Return to your mistress and submit to her.”The angel of the Lord also said to her,“ I will surely multiply your offspring so that they cannot be numbered for multitude.”

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he strove with God.He strove with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He met God at Bethel, and there God spoke with us—the Lord, the God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial name:

“ Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.
