那人同他的妾和僕人起身要走，但他岳父，就是女子的父親，對他說：「看哪，太陽下山，天快晚了，你們再住一夜吧。看哪，太陽偏西了，就在這裏住宿，使你的心舒暢，明天你們一早起來上路，回你的帳棚去。」

他們心裏高興的時候，就說：「叫參孫來，逗我們歡樂。」於是他們把參孫從監獄裏提出來，在他們面前戲耍。他們叫他站在兩根柱子中間。

波阿斯吃喝完了，心情暢快，就去躺臥在麥堆旁邊。路得悄悄走來，掀露他的腳，躺臥在那裏。

第七日，亞哈隨魯王飲酒，心中快樂，就吩咐在他面前侍立的七個太監米戶幔、比斯他、哈波拿、比革他、亞拔他、西達、甲迦，

住在地上的人會因他們而歡喜快樂，互相饋送禮物，因為這兩位先知曾使住在地上的人受痛苦。

於是老人領他到家裏，餵上驢。他們洗了腳，就吃喝起來。他們心裏歡樂的時候，看哪，城中的無賴圍住房子，連連叩門，對老人，這家的主人說：「把那進你家的人帶出來，我們要與他交合。」

然後要對我自己說：你這個人哪，你有許多財物積存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快樂吧！』

人正說平安穩定的時候，災禍忽然臨到他們，如同陣痛臨到懷胎的婦人一樣，他們絕逃脫不了。

得酒能悅人心，得油能潤人面，得糧能養人心。

正在那時候，地大震動，城倒塌了十分之一；因地震而死的有七千人，其餘的都恐懼，歸榮耀給天上的上帝。

他們出到田間，摘下葡萄，踹酒，作樂。他們進入他們神明的廟中吃喝，詛咒亞比米勒。
