那人和他的妾，以及他的仆人起来要走的时候，他的岳父，就是那女子的父亲，对他说：“看哪，天快晚了！请再住一夜。看哪，日头西斜了！请在这里再住一夜，畅快你的心；明天可以清早起来，上路回家去。”

他们心里正在高兴的时候，就说：“叫参孙来，给我们耍耍把戏。”于是有人把参孙从监牢里叫出来；参孙就在他们面前耍把戏，他们又把他放在两根柱子中间。

波阿斯吃喝完了，心里舒畅，就去躺在麦堆的旁边。路得悄悄地来，掀露他的脚，躺卧下去。

第七日，亚哈随鲁王因饮酒心里高兴，就吩咐侍候在他面前的七个太监：米户幔、比斯他、哈波拿、比革他、亚拔他、西达、甲迦，

亚比该到了拿八那里，他正在家中摆设筵席，好像帝王的筵席一样。拿八心里畅快，喝得烂醉如泥，所以无论大事小事亚比该都没有告诉他，直到第二天早晨。

住在地上的人为了他们的缘故，就欢喜快乐，彼此送礼，因为这两位先知曾经使他们受痛苦。

于是把他领到自己的家里，用饲料喂了驴，他们洗了脚，就吃喝起来。他们心里正畅快的时候，忽然城里有些无赖之徒，围绕房子，不住地敲门，对老房主说：“把进入你家的那个人带出来，我们要与他交合。”

然后，我要对我的灵魂说：灵魂啊，你拥有许多好东西，足够多年享用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’

人正在说平安稳妥的时候，毁灭性的灾祸就突然临到他们，好像生产的痛苦临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝不能逃脱。

又有酒使人心欢喜，有油使人容光焕发，有粮加添人的心力。

就在那时，大地震发生了，那座城倒塌了十分之一，因着地震而死的有七千人，其余的人都很害怕，就把荣耀归给天上的神。

他们出到田间去，收取葡萄，榨酒，举行庆祝会，进入他们的神庙吃喝，并且咒诅亚比米勒。
