The five men who had spied out the land went inside and took the idol, the ephod and the household gods while the priest and the six hundred armed men stood at the entrance of the gate.

The five men who had looked over the land went inside. They took the statue covered with silver. They also took the family gods and the linen apron. During that time, the priest stood at the entrance of the gate. The 600 men stood there with him. They were prepared for battle.

And the five men who had gone to scout out the land went up and entered and took the carved image, the ephod, the household gods, and the metal image, while the priest stood by the entrance of the gate with the 600 men armed with weapons of war.

And the five men that went to spy out the land went up,[ and] came in thither,[ and] took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men[ that were] appointed with weapons of war.

從前去窺探拉億地的五個人，對他們的族人說：“這些屋子裡有以弗得、神像、雕像和鑄像，你們知道嗎？現在你們要考慮一下應該怎樣行。”

米迦把銀子還給他母親以後，他母親取出二千三百克銀子交給銀匠，製造一個雕像和一個鑄像，都放在米迦的家裡。米迦這人有一間神廟，又製造以弗得和家中的神像，並且立了他的一個兒子作祭司。

於是但人從瑣拉和以實陶，差派他們家族中的五個勇士，去窺探查察那地，對他們說：“你們去查察那地吧。”他們來到以法蓮山地，進了米迦的家，就在那裡住宿。

當時拉班剪羊毛去了，拉結就偷了他父親的神像。

非利士人把眾祭司和占卜的都召了來，問他們：“我們應該怎樣處理耶和華的約櫃呢？請告訴我們，要怎樣才能把它送回原處呢？”他們回答：“你們把以色列神的約櫃送回去的時候，不可空空地把它送回去，卻要償還賠罪的禮物，這樣，你們就可以得著醫治，也可以知道，為甚麼他的手沒有離開你們。”非利士人問：“我們應當償給他甚麼作賠罪的禮物呢？”他們回答：“要按照非利士人各城首領的數目，用五個金痔瘡和五隻金老鼠作賠罪的禮物，因為你們所有的人和你們各城的首領所遭遇的，都是一樣的災禍。所以你們要做痔瘡的像和毀壞田地的老鼠的像，還要把榮耀歸給以色列的神。也許他會向你們、你們的神和你們的田地手下留情。你們為甚麼要硬著心，像以前埃及人和法老那樣呢？神嚴嚴地對付他們以後，他們不是放走了以色列人，以色列人不是真的離開了嗎？現在你們要預備一輛新車和兩頭仍在乳養小牛、未曾負過軛的母牛，把牠們緊緊套在車上，把小牛從牠們身邊帶回棚裡去。你們要把耶和華的約櫃搬來，放在車上，把那些償給他作賠罪禮物的金器放在盒子裡，放置在約櫃旁邊，然後把它送上路，讓它自己走。你們要留意看，如果它是走向自己的境界，往伯．示麥去，那麼就是耶和華降這大災給我們；如果不是這樣，我們就知道，不是他的手攻擊我們，我們遭遇的不過是偶然的事。”

又把他們所做的那牛犢拿過來，用火焚燒，磨到粉碎，撒在水面上，讓以色列人喝。

我必從你中間除掉你雕刻的偶像和柱像，你就不再跪拜你手所做的；

神的約櫃也被搶去，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼和非尼哈也死了。

他們把神像抬起來，扛在肩頭上，然後把它安置在固定的地方，它就立在那裡，總不離開它的本位。雖然有人向它呼求，它也不能回答；它也不能救人脫離患難。

彼勒俯伏，尼波彎腰；巴比倫人的偶像馱在走獸和牲口上。你們所抬的現在都成了重擔，成了疲乏的牲畜身上的重負。它們一同彎腰、俯伏，不能保護重負，它們自己反倒被擄去了。

約阿施對所有站著攻擊他的人說：“你們要為巴力辯護嗎？或是你們要救他呢？誰為他辯護，到早晨就必死亡。巴力若是神，有人拆毀了他的祭壇，就讓他為自己辯護吧。”

把它們的神丟進火裡，但他們並不是神，不過是人手用木頭、石頭做成的，因此他們可以把他們除掉。現在，耶和華我們的神啊，求你從他的手中把我們拯救出來，地上萬國就可以知道只有你耶和華才是神。”
