When he returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said,“ I solemnly consecrate my silver to the Lord for my son to make an image overlaid with silver. I will give it back to you.”

He gave the 28 pounds of silver back to his mother. She said to him,“ I’m making a promise to set apart my silver to the Lord. My son, I want you to use it to cover a statue of a god made out of wood or stone. That’s why I’ll give the silver back to you.”

And he restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother. And his mother said,“ I dedicate the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a metal image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.”

He returned the money to her, and she said,“ I now dedicate these silver coins to the Lord. In honor of my son, I will have an image carved and an idol cast.”

He returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I personally consecrate the silver to the LORD for my son’s benefit to make a carved image and a silver idol. I will give it back to you.”

He then returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I wholly consecrate the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son to make a carved image and a cast metal image; so now I will return them to you.”

So when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said,“ I had wholly dedicated the silver from my hand to the Lord for my son, to make a carved image and a molded image; now therefore, I will return it to you.”

And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I verily dedicate the silver unto Jehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

He returned the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother said,“ I personally consecrate the silver to the Lord for my son’s benefit to make a carved image overlaid with silver.”

And when he had restored the eleven hundred[ shekels] of silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto the LORD from my hand for my son, to make a graven image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.

When he gave back to his mother the eleven hundred pieces of silver, his mother said,“ I solemnly dedicate this silver to the LORD. It will be for my son’s benefit. We will use it to make a carved image and a metal image.”

He restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, then his mother said,“ I most certainly dedicate the silver to Yahweh from my hand for my son, to make a carved image and a molten image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.”

「不可為自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飛禽走獸或水族的樣子造神像，

不要祭拜虛無的神明，也不要為自己鑄造神像。我是你們的上帝耶和華。

除了敬拜我之外，不可為自己製造金銀神像。

他們信奉的毫無價值，他們從林中砍一棵樹，工匠用木頭雕刻偶像，以金銀作裝飾，用釘子和錘子釘牢，以免晃動。它們像瓜園中的稻草人，不能說話，不能行走，需要人搬運。你們不要怕它們，它們既不能害人，也不能助人。」

他們都愚昧無知，毫無用處的木製偶像能教導他們什麼呢？

你們要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，焚燒他們的亞舍拉神像，砍倒他們的偶像，使它們的名字從那裡消失。

米迦說：「現在我有一個利未人做我的祭司，耶和華一定會賜福給我。」

「雕刻的偶像有什麼益處？騙人的鑄像有什麼用處？製造者竟信靠自己造的啞巴偶像！對木頭說『醒醒吧』，對啞巴石頭說『起來吧』的人啊，你們有禍了！它們能教導你們嗎？看啊，它們外面包金裹銀，裡面卻毫無生命。

「不可為自己鑄造神像。

你們拿誰與上帝相比呢？你們用什麼形像比作上帝呢？偶像是工匠製造的，銀匠替它包上金子、打造銀鏈。買不起這種偶像的人就選一塊耐用的木頭，找個精巧的工匠，雕出一個可以站立不倒的偶像。難道你們不知道嗎？難道你們沒有聽過嗎？難道不是從起初就告訴過你們嗎？難道從大地奠立根基以來，你們一直沒有明白嗎？上帝的寶座設立在大地的圓圈之上，地上的人類好像蚱蜢。祂鋪展諸天，就像鋪展幔子、鋪展人居住的帳篷。祂使掌權者歸於無有，使世上的審判官化為虛無。他們像草一樣剛被栽上，剛被種上，剛在土裡扎根，上帝一口氣吹來，便都枯乾了，暴風將他們像禾稭一樣吹去。那位聖者說：「你們拿誰與我相比，使之與我同等呢？」

「至於那些任意妄為、以行可憎之事為樂、宰牛就像殺人、獻羊羔就像打斷狗頸、獻穀物就像獻豬血、燒香就像頌讚偶像的人，

製造偶像的真是無用，他們珍愛的偶像毫無價值。拜神像的人目盲眼瞎，愚昧無知，自找羞辱。製造神像、雕刻無益偶像的是誰？看啊，製造神像的工匠不過是人，他們必羞愧。讓他們一起來對質吧，他們必恐懼、羞愧。鐵匠把鐵塊放在炭火裡燒，用他強壯的臂膀揮動鐵錘把它打成偶像。他饑餓時就會無力，口渴時就會疲乏。木匠拉線測量木料，用筆勾出形狀，用圓規畫出模樣，仿照人的樣子用鑿子做成逼真的神像，放在廟宇裡。他砍伐香柏木，或從林中選取柏木和橡木。他栽種松樹，雨水使它長大。這樹可以用來作燃料，他取一些木料生火取暖、烤餅，又製成神像來祭拜，雕成偶像來叩拜。他用一半木頭烤肉，飽餐一頓，並用火取暖，說：「啊！我這裡有火，真暖和。」他用另一半木頭造了一個神，一個偶像，向它俯伏叩拜、禱告說：「你是我的神明，求你拯救我。」他們愚昧無知，因為眼睛被封住以致看不見，心竅被塞住以致不明白。他們無人思想，無人明白，無人醒悟說：「我用一半木頭當柴烤餅、烤肉吃，我豈能用另一半木頭造可憎的神像？我豈能向一塊木頭叩拜？」他們以灰為食，心智迷糊，走入歧途，不能自救，也不會說：「我右手拿的神像不是假的嗎？」

他們說：「請你求問上帝，看看我們是否一路順利。」

他們的神像不過是人用金銀造的。它們有口不能言，有眼不能看，有耳不能聽，有鼻不能聞，有手不能摸，有腳不能走，有喉嚨也不能發聲。那些製造它們、信靠它們的人也會和它們一樣。

人們將把你們趕出會堂；時候將到，殺害你們的人還以為是在事奉上帝。
