The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

在瑪哈尼‧但，就是瑣拉和以實陶中間，耶和華的靈才感動他。

掃羅聽見這話，就被神的靈大大感動，甚是發怒。

說：「我情願與非利士人同死！」就盡力屈身，房子倒塌，壓住首領和房內的眾人。這樣，參孫死時所殺的人比活着所殺的還多。

他對我說：「這是耶和華指示所羅巴伯的。萬軍之耶和華說：不是倚靠勢力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的靈方能成事。

他見一塊未乾的驢腮骨，就伸手拾起來，用以擊殺一千人。

大衛對掃羅說：「你僕人為父親放羊，有時來了獅子，有時來了熊，從羣中啣一隻羊羔去。我就追趕牠，擊打牠，將羊羔從牠口中救出來。牠起來要害我，我就揪着牠的鬍子，將牠打死。你僕人曾打死獅子和熊，這未受割禮的非利士人向永生神的軍隊罵陣，也必像獅子和熊一般。」大衛又說：「耶和華救我脫離獅子和熊的爪，也必救我脫離這非利士人的手。」掃羅對大衛說：「你可以去吧！耶和華必與你同在。」

耶和華的靈降在耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，來到基列的米斯巴，又從米斯巴來到亞捫人那裏。

他不喧嚷，不揚聲，也不使街上聽見他的聲音。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們當負我的軛，學我的樣式；這樣，你們心裏就必得享安息。

參孫就大大擊殺他們，連腿帶腰都砍斷了。他便下去，住在以坦磐的穴內。

今日耶和華必將你交在我手裏。我必殺你，斬你的頭，又將非利士軍兵的屍首給空中的飛鳥、地上的野獸吃，使普天下的人都知道以色列中有神；
