The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

耶和華的靈臨到他身上，他就治理以色列人；他出去作戰，耶和華把亞蘭王古珊．利薩田交在他手中，他的能力就勝過了古珊．利薩田。

在瑪哈尼．但（“瑪哈尼．但”意即“但的軍營”），就是在瑣拉和以實陶中間，耶和華的靈開始感動參孫。

掃羅聽了這些話，神的靈大大感動他，他就非常忿怒。

然後參孫說：“讓我與非利士人同歸於盡吧！”於是盡力屈身，房子就倒塌，壓在眾領袖和房子裡所有的人身上。這樣，參孫死的時候殺死的人，比他活著的時候殺死的人還多。

他對我說：“這是耶和華對所羅巴伯所說的話：‘不是倚靠權勢，不是倚靠能力，而是倚靠我的靈。’這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

他找著一塊新鮮的驢腮骨，就伸手拾起來，擊殺了一千人。

大衛對掃羅說：“你僕人是為父親放羊的，有時獅子或熊來了，從羊群中抓去一隻小羊，我就出去追趕牠，擊打牠，從牠的嘴裡把小羊救出來。如果牠起來攻擊我，我就揪住牠的鬍鬚，擊打牠，把牠殺死。你僕人不但擊殺過獅子，也擊殺過熊。這個未受割禮的非利士人也必像一隻獅子或熊一樣，因為他向永活的神的軍隊罵陣。”大衛又說：“那曾救我脫離獅爪和熊掌的耶和華，也必救我脫離這非利士人的手。”於是掃羅對大衛說：“你去吧！願耶和華與你同在。”

那時耶和華的靈臨到耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴去到亞捫人那裡。

他不呼喊，也不揚聲，也不叫人在街上聽見他的聲音。

我心裡柔和謙卑，你們應當負我的軛，向我學習，你們就必得著心靈的安息；

參孫擊打他們，連腿帶腰都砍斷了，那是一場極大的殺戮；然後他下去，住在以坦磐石的穴中。

今天耶和華要把你交在我手裡，我必擊殺你，砍下你的頭。今天我還要把非利士人軍隊的屍體給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸吃。這樣，全地的人就都知道以色列中有一位神。
