The angel of the Lord appeared to her and said,“ You are barren and childless, but you are going to become pregnant and give birth to a son.

The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah’s wife. He said,“ You are not able to have children. But you are going to become pregnant. You will have a baby boy.

And He said,“ I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”( Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)

So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying,“ Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

Then he said,“ About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said,“ No, my Lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!”

So the woman came and told her husband, saying,“ A Man of God came to me, and His countenance was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome; but I did not ask Him where He was from, and He did not tell me His name.

Then the woman ran in haste and told her husband, and said to him,“ Look, the Man who came to me the other day has just now appeared to me!”

And I will bless her and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.”

Now the Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.And He said,“ Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She said,“ I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.”The Angel of the Lord said to her,“ Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.”Then the Angel of the Lord said to her,“ I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.”And the Angel of the Lord said to her:“ Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has heard your affliction.He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man’s hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.”Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said,“ Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”

And having come in, the angel said to her,“ Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.Then the angel said to her,“ Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”Then Mary said to the angel,“ How can this be, since I do not know a man?”And the angel answered and said to her,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.For with God nothing will be impossible.”Then Mary said,“ Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
