Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said,“ You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and Manasseh.”

耶弗他乃集基列人、與以法蓮人戰、而擊殺之、因以法蓮人曰、爾基列人、在以法蓮瑪拿西間、乃以法蓮之逋逃者也、

以法蓮人嘗曰、基列人自以法蓮族逋逃於外、處以法蓮馬拿西族間、故耶弗大集基列人與以法蓮人戰、攻擊其眾。

耶弗他集基列人、與以法蓮人戰、因以法蓮人嘗對基列人曰、爾基列人在以法蓮瑪拿西中、原為以法蓮逃亡之人、或作因以法蓮人嘗對基列人言爾曹原為以法蓮逃亡之人基列在以法蓮瑪拿西間故基列人攻擊以法蓮人、

Jephthah then called together the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. The Gileadites struck them down because the Ephraimites had said,“ You Gileadites are renegades from Ephraim and Manasseh.”

Then Jephthah called the men of Gilead together. They fought against Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck them down. The people of Ephraim had said,“ You people of Gilead are nothing but deserters from Ephraim and Manasseh.”

The people of Ephraim responded,“ You men of Gilead are nothing more than fugitives from Ephraim and Manasseh.” So Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and attacked the men of Ephraim and defeated them.

Then Jephthah gathered all of the men of Gilead. They fought and defeated Ephraim, because Ephraim had said,“ You Gileadites are Ephraimite fugitives in the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh.”

Then Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead and fought Ephraim; and the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they said,“ You are survivors of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasseh.”

Now Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. And the men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because they said,“ You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites and among the Manassites.”

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye are fugitives of Ephraim, ye Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh.

Then Jephthah gathered all of the men of Gilead. They fought and defeated Ephraim, because Ephraim had said,“ You Gileadites are Ephraimite fugitives in the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh.”

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites[ are] fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites,[ and] among the Manassites.

Jephthah assembled all the men of Gilead and they fought with Ephraim. The men of Gilead defeated Ephraim, because the Ephraimites insulted them, saying,“ You Gileadites are refugees in Ephraim, living within Ephraim’s and Manasseh’s territory.”

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim. The men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said,“ You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the middle of Ephraim, and in the middle of Manasseh.”

And Nabal answered David’s servants,“ Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants these days who are breaking away from their masters.

And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah,“ The Lord will be witness between us, if we do not do as you say.”

“ When we took possession of this land at that time, I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites the territory beginning at Aroer, which is on the edge of the Valley of the Arnon, and half the hill country of Gilead with its cities.The rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, that is, all the region of Argob, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh.( All that portion of Bashan is called the land of Rephaim.Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.)To Machir I gave Gilead,and to the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave the territory from Gilead as far as the Valley of the Arnon, with the middle of the valley as a border, as far over as the river Jabbok, the border of the Ammonites;the Arabah also, with the Jordan as the border, from Chinnereth as far as the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, under the slopes of Pisgah on the east.

Hear, O our God, for we are despised. Turn back their taunt on their own heads and give them up to be plundered in a land where they are captives.

And the sons of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead and captured it, and dispossessed the Amorites who were in it.And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh, and he settled in it.

The Ephraimites, armed with the bow, turned back on the day of battle.

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

An evil man is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous escapes from trouble.
