The men of Ephraim were called together and crossed the Jordan to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah,“ Why have you crossed over to fight against the Ammonites but didn’t call us to go with you? We will burn your house with you in it!”

The Ephraimite forces were called out, and they crossed over to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah,“ Why did you go to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We’re going to burn down your house over your head.”

The troops of Ephraim were called out. The troops went across the Jordan River to Zaphon. When they arrived, they said to Jephthah,“ You went to fight against the Ammonites. Why didn’t you ask us to go with you? We’re going to burn down your house over your head.”

The men of Ephraim were called to arms, and they crossed to Zaphon and said to Jephthah,“ Why did you cross over to fight against the Ammonites and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house over you with fire.”

Then the people of Ephraim mobilized an army and crossed over the Jordan River to Zaphon. They sent this message to Jephthah:“ Why didn’t you call for us to help you fight against the Ammonites? We are going to burn down your house with you in it!”

Now the men of Ephraim were summoned, and they crossed to Zaphon; and they said to Jephthah,“ Why did you cross over to fight against the sons of Ammon without calling us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you!”

Then the men of Ephraim gathered together, crossed over toward Zaphon, and said to Jephthah,“ Why did you cross over to fight against the people of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house down on you with fire!”

And the men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.

The Ephraimites assembled and crossed over to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah,“ Why did you go and fight with the Ammonites without asking us to go with you? We will burn your house down right over you!”

The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah,“ Why did you pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didn’t call us to go with you? We will burn your house around you with fire!”

The men of Ephraim said to him,“ Why have you done this to us, not calling us when you went to fight against the Midianites?” And they argued with him violently.

On the fourth day they said to Samson’s wife,“ Persuade your husband to explain the riddle to us, or we will burn you and your father’s family to death. Did you invite us here to rob us?”

A stone is heavy, and sand a burden, but aggravation from a fool outweighs them both.Fury is cruel, and anger a flood, but who can withstand jealousy?

Jesus replied,“ I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these works are you stoning me?”

Suddenly, all the men of Israel came to the king. They asked him,“ Why did our brothers, the men of Judah, take you away secretly and transport the king and his household across the Jordan, along with all of David’s men?”All the men of Judah responded to the men of Israel,“ Because the king is our relative. Why does this make you angry? Have we ever eaten anything of the king’s or been honored at all?”The men of Israel answered the men of Judah,“ We have ten shares in the king, so we have a greater claim to David than you. Why then do you despise us? Weren’t we the first to speak of restoring our king?” But the words of the men of Judah were harsher than those of the men of Israel.

For where there is envy and selfish ambition, there is disorder and every evil practice.

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from your passions that wage war within you?You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and wage war. You do not have because you do not ask.

Then the Philistines asked,“ Who did this?” They were told,“ It was Samson, the Timnite’s son-in-law, because he took Samson’s wife and gave her to his companion.” So the Philistines went to her and her father and burned them to death.

In return for my love they accuse me, but I continue to pray.

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.
