耶弗他看见她，就撕裂衣服，说：“哀哉！我的女儿啊，你使我甚是愁苦，叫我作难了；因为我已经向耶和华开口许愿，不能挽回。”

When he saw her, he tore his clothes and cried,“ Oh no, my daughter! You have brought me down and I am devastated. I have made a vow to the Lord that I cannot break.”

When Jephthah saw her, he was so upset that he tore his clothes. He cried out,“ Oh no, my daughter! You have filled me with trouble and sorrow. I’ve made a promise to the Lord. And I can’t break it.”

And as soon as he saw her, he tore his clothes and said,“ Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you have become the cause of great trouble to me. For I have opened my mouth to the Lord, and I cannot take back my vow.”

When he saw her, he tore his clothes in anguish.“ Oh, my daughter!” he cried out.“ You have completely destroyed me! You’ve brought disaster on me! For I have made a vow to the Lord, and I cannot take it back.”

When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said,“ No! Not my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me. I have given my word to the LORD and cannot take it back.”

So when he saw her, he tore his clothes and said,“ Oh, my daughter! You have brought me disaster, and you are among those who trouble me; for I have given my word to the Lord, and I cannot take it back.”

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said,“ Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I have given my word to the Lord, and I cannot go back on it.”

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me; for I have opened my mouth unto Jehovah, and I cannot go back.

When he saw her, he tore his clothes and said,“ No! Not my daughter! You have devastated me! You have brought great misery on me. I have given my word to the Lord and cannot take it back.”

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.

When he saw her, he ripped his clothes and said,“ Oh no! My daughter! You have completely ruined me! You have brought me disaster! I made an oath to the LORD, and I cannot break it.”

When he saw her, he tore his clothes, and said,“ Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have opened my mouth to Yahweh, and I can’t go back.”

王甚憂、登邑門之樓而哭、且行且言曰、我子押沙龍、我子我子押沙龍、我願代爾死、我子我子押沙龍。

以色列族在米斯巴曾誓曰、我族之女、勿妻便雅憫族。民至伯特利、舉聲號哭、於上帝前、迨及薄暮。曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華與、焉有此事、以色列族中之支派、今日幾絕其一。詰朝民夙興、築壇獻燔祭、及酬恩祭。以色列族曾發誓言、凡不至米斯巴詣耶和華前者、必殺毋赦。故相問曰、以色列支派中、孰不至耶和華會。以色列族、因其同儕便雅憫族、潛有悔心、曰、今日以色列族中之支派、幾絕其一。其所孑遺、欲妻以女、若何而可、蓋我曾指耶和華而誓、不以我女嫁彼。

在途間未至、或告大闢曰、王之眾子、盡為押沙龍所殺、靡有孑遺。王遂裂衣仆地、臣僕裂衣侍立。

如人指耶和華而許願、或發誓以自戒、則言出惟行、信不可失。若女年幼、尚在父家、指耶和華而許願以自戒、其父聞言、默然無語、則所許之願自戒之言必行。如父不允、則所許之願、所言之戒、俱不可行、父既不允、耶和華將釋之。

雅各謂眾子曰、爾曹喪我子矣、約瑟已亡、西面亦亡、今欲取便雅憫、此皆害及我身。流便告父曰、請付於我、我必反之、不然殺我二子以償。曰我必不使幼子與爾偕往、其兄已亡、彼即㷀然、如途間遭害、則我皓然白首、淒涼歸墓、皆爾之過也。

勿造次啟口出言於上帝前、蓋上帝在天、爾在地、故言必寡。多慮多夢、多言多拙。愚魯者流、上帝所不悅、凡指上帝而發願、當償勿緩。寧勿許願、毋許而不償。勿以口所許、陷於罪戾、毋告祭司、以所許之言為誤、恐上帝震怒、敗爾所為。

後流便至井、窺約瑟不在、遂裂己衣、返見諸弟曰、童子不在、我將何歸。

遂誓許所求、女為母所唆、曰請以施洗約翰之首、盤上賜我、王憂、然既誓、又以同席者在、乃命賜之、

約百遂起、裂衣薙首、伏地拜曰、

掃羅曰、約拿單、我必致爾於死、我不若是、願上帝罰我。民謂掃羅曰、今日蒙上帝所祐、約拿單大救以色列族、欲致之死、斷乎不可、我儕指耶和華以誓、其首之一髮、必不隕地、於是約拿單為民所援、免於死亡。

凡獻我之物、無論人畜田畝、俱不得鬻、亦不得贖、所獻禮物、不可復贖、乃必宰之。

維彼誕妄兮、則擯棄之、寅畏耶和華兮、則恭敬止、願既許兮、雖己有損、不易其志兮。

就祭司諸長與長老曰、我儕曾誓、不殺保羅不食、

雅各遂裂己衣、衣麻慘傷、幾歷歲月。子女群來相勸、父不受慰、曰、我必悲哀、至於幽冥、就子乃已、父之痛子如此。
