So Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead. The people put him over themselves as leader and commander, and Jephthah repeated all his terms in the presence of the Lord at Mizpah.

The Ammonites were called together, and they camped in Gilead. So the Israelites assembled and camped at Mizpah.

Singers lead the way, with musicians following; among them are young women playing tambourines.

“ Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at Me whom they pierced. They will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for Him as one weeps for a firstborn.

There was great searching of heart among the clans of Reuben.Why did you sit among the sheepfolds listening to the playing of pipes for the flocks? But may those who love Him be like the rising of the sun in its strength. And the land was peaceful 40 years.

Just then a man from the crowd cried out,“ Teacher, I beg You to look at my son, because he’s my only child.

Praise Him with tambourine and dance; praise Him with flute and strings.

because he had an only daughter about 12 years old, and she was at death’s door. While He was going, the crowds were nearly crushing Him.

As the troops were coming back, when David was returning from killing the Philistine, the women came out from all the cities of Israel to meet King Saul, singing and dancing with tambourines, with shouts of joy, and with three-stringed instruments.As they celebrated, the women sang: Saul has killed his thousands, but David his tens of thousands.
