众百姓就到了吉甲那里，在耶和华面前立扫罗为王，又在耶和华面前献平安祭。扫罗和以色列众人大大欢喜。

并不是我们凭自己能承担什么事；我们所能承担的，乃是出于神。

耶和华我的神啊，如今你使仆人接续我父亲大卫作王；但我是幼童，不知道应当怎样出入。仆人住在你所拣选的民中，这民多得不可胜数。所以求你赐我智慧，可以判断你的民，能辨别是非。不然，谁能判断这众多的民呢？”

你们中间若有缺少智慧的，应当求那厚赐与众人、也不斥责人的神，主就必赐给他。

大卫知道扫罗设计谋害他，就对祭司亚比亚他说：“将以弗得拿过来。”大卫祷告说：“耶和华以色列的神啊，你仆人听真了扫罗要往基伊拉来，为我的缘故灭城。基伊拉人将我交在扫罗手里不交？扫罗照着你仆人所听的话下来不下来？耶和华以色列的神啊，求你指示仆人！”耶和华说：“扫罗必下来。”大卫又说：“基伊拉人将我和跟随我的人交在扫罗手里不交？”耶和华说：“必交出来。”

各样美善的恩赐和各样全备的赏赐都是从上头来的，从众光之父那里降下来的；在他并没有改变，也没有转动的影儿。
