你今日应当知道，耶和华—你的神在你前面渡过去，如同吞噬的火，要除灭他们，并要在你面前将他们制伏，使你可以赶出他们，速速消灭他们，正如耶和华向你所说的。

当耶和华—你的神把他们交给你，你击杀他们的时候，你要完全消灭他们，不可与他们立约，也不可怜惜他们。

今日耶和华必将你交在我手里。我必杀你，砍下你的头，今日我要把非利士军兵的尸体给空中的飞鸟和地上的野兽，使全地的人都知道以色列中有神，又使这里的全会众知道，耶和华使人得胜，不是用刀用枪，因为战争全在乎耶和华。他必将你们交在我们手里。”

我要派瘟疫在你的前面，把希未人、迦南人、赫人从你面前赶出去。我不在一年之内把他们从你面前赶出去，恐怕地会荒废，野地的走兽增多危害你。

于是以色列王召集先知，约有四百人，问他们说：“我可以上去攻打基列的拉末吗？还是不要上去呢？”他们说：“可以上去，因为主必将那城交在王的手里。”

约拿单对拿兵器的青年说：“来，我们过去到那些未受割礼之人的驻军那里，或者耶和华为我们施展能力，因为耶和华使人得胜，不在乎人多人少。”

耶和华对约书亚说：“你不要怕他们。明日这时，我必把他们全部交给以色列人杀灭。你要砍断他们马的蹄筋，用火焚烧他们的战车。”于是约书亚和所有跟他一起作战的士兵，来到米伦水边，突然攻击他们。耶和华将他们交在以色列人手里，以色列人就击杀他们，追赶他们到西顿大城，到米斯利弗‧玛音，直到东边米斯巴的山谷。以色列人击杀他们，没有留下一个幸存者。

但他们若这么说：‘上到我们这里来吧’，我们就上去，因为耶和华把他们交在我们手里了。这就是我们的凭据。”

耶和华对约书亚说：“不要怕他们，因为我已将他们交在你手里，他们没有一人能在你面前站立得住。”约书亚就连夜从吉甲上去，猛然袭击他们。耶和华使他们在以色列人面前溃乱。约书亚在基遍大大击杀他们，在伯‧和仑的上坡路上追赶他们，击杀他们，直到亚西加和玛基大。

米该雅来到王那里，王问他：“米该雅，我们可以上去攻打基列的拉末吗？还是不要上去呢？”他对王说：“你可以上去，必然得胜，耶和华必将那城交在王的手中。”
