As Moses had promised, Hebron was given to Caleb, who drove from it the three sons of Anak.

Moses had promised to give Hebron to Caleb. So Hebron was given to Caleb. He drove the three sons of Anak out of it.

And Hebron was given to Caleb, as Moses had said. And he drove out from it the three sons of Anak.

The town of Hebron was given to Caleb as Moses had promised. And Caleb drove out the people living there, who were descendants of the three sons of Anak.

They advanced against the Canaanites living in Hebron( formerly called Kiriath Arba) and defeated Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.

In accordance with the Lord’s command to him, Joshua gave to Caleb son of Jephunneh a portion in Judah— Kiriath Arba, that is, Hebron.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)From Hebron Caleb drove out the three Anakites— Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, the sons of Anak.

except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.”

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.

They gave them Kiriath Arba( that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pastureland, in the hill country of Judah.( Arba was the forefather of Anak.)But the fields and villages around the city they had given to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.

They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, lived.( Hebron had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

So on that day Moses swore to me,‘ The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.’“ Now then, just as the Lord promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old!I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”Then Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron as his inheritance.So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.
