彼必立於祭司、以利亞撒前、以利亞撒用烏陵、諮諏我意、彼及以色列會眾、必聽斯命而出入。

大闢知掃羅蓄謀害己、遂命祭司亞庇亞塔、攜公服至此、禱曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華與、僕聞掃羅欲至枝拉、職我之故、將滅斯城。

伯善、大納、多耳、以伯連、米吉多、及其鄉里之迦南人、仍居斯土、馬拿西族不加驅逐。

以烏陵土明置於黼掛、亞倫覲我耶和華時、必服之膺前、為以色列族鑑察事理於我前、恆久不輟。○

迦南之戰、以色列族中有未見其事者、耶和華欲其練習武備、亦欲試以色列族、故遺數族於此、其名臚列如左。非利士人之五伯、迦南人、西頓人、居利巴嫩山之希未人、自巴力黑門至哈末道。
