You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

You want something, but you don’t have it. So you kill. You want what others have, but you can’t get what you want. So you argue and fight. You don’t have what you want, because you don’t ask God.

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.

直到現在，你們沒有奉我的名求甚麼，如今你們求就必得着，使你們的喜樂得以滿足。」

「你們祈求，就給你們；尋找，就找到；叩門，就給你們開門。因為凡祈求的，就得着；尋找的，就找到；叩門的，就給他開門。

你們中間若有缺少智慧的，該求那厚賜與眾人又不斥責人的上帝，上帝必賜給他。

我又告訴你們，祈求，就給你們；尋找，就找到；叩門，就給你們開門。因為凡祈求的，就得着；尋找的，就找到；叩門的，就給他開門。你們中間作父親的，誰有兒子求魚，反拿蛇當魚給他呢？求雞蛋，反給他蠍子呢？你們雖然不好，尚且知道拿好東西給兒女，何況天父，他豈不更要把聖靈賜給求他的人嗎？」

耶穌回答她說：「你若知道上帝的恩賜，和對你說『請給我水喝』的是誰，你早就會求他，他也早就會給了你活水。」

但那些想要發財的人就陷在誘惑、羅網和許多無知有害的慾望中，使人沉淪，以致敗壞和滅亡。貪財是萬惡之根。有人因貪戀錢財而背離信仰，用許多愁苦把自己刺透了。

有人孤單無雙，無子無兄弟，竟勞碌不息，眼目也不以財富為滿足。他說：「我勞碌，自己卻不享福，到底是為了誰呢？」這也是虛空，是極沉重的擔子。

注意！你們這些富足人哪，要為將要臨到你們身上的災難哭泣、號咷。你們的財物腐爛了，你們的衣服被蟲子蛀了。你們的金銀都生銹了；這銹要證明你們的不是，又要像火一樣吞吃你們的肉。你們在這末世只知道積蓄錢財。工人給你們收割莊稼，你們剋扣他們的工錢；這工錢在喊冤，而且收割工人的冤聲已經進入萬軍之主的耳朵了。你們在地上享奢華宴樂，把自己養肥了，等候宰殺的日子。

凡靠暴力歛財的，所行之路都是如此，這種念頭必奪去自己的生命。

他因酒詭詐、狂傲、不安於位；他張開喉嚨，好像陰間，如死亡不能知足，他聚集萬國，招聚萬民全歸自己。

但亞哈斯說：「我不求；我不試探耶和華。」
