You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.

爾向未托予名義以求、求則必受、爾樂充溢。

爾有所求、則必予爾；覓則必獲；叩則必為爾啟。蓋求者無不得、覓者無不獲、而叩者無不見啓也。

若爾中有人智慧不足、則當求之天主、終必如願以償；蓋天主賜人至厚、博愛慈祥、而不事呵叱也。

故予語爾、求則予爾、覓則見獲、叩則必為爾啟；蓋求者無不得、覓者無不獲、而叩者無不見啟也。爾中孰有求餅於其父、而見賜以石、求魚而見賜以蛇、求卵而見賜以蝎者乎？夫以爾等罪人、尚知以嘉惠賜爾兒女；況在爾之天父、有不更以聖神賦予求之者乎！』

婦曰：『先生既無汲水之具、而井又深、將何從而得活水乎？

若夫孳孳為利之人、徒自陷於誘惑、墮入羅網、顛冥昏昧、縱情恣慾、終至沉溺淪亡而後已。信哉、貪財乃萬惡之根也。頗有因求財之故、而離棄正道流入岐途、終至自求辛螫、百慮刺心者焉。

咄咄富人、爾其休矣、災禍將臨爾身、爾盍哀號痛哭乎！爾之財帛朽矣、爾之衣服蝕矣、爾之金銀銹矣。金銀之銹、將為爾罪之鐵證、而成爾體之烙印。哀哉、爾平生所積之寶、適足以為末日積怒耳。工人為爾收穫莊稼、爾竟欺之、而不予工資。此所欠之工資、亦將為工人鳴冤、且其聲已上達萬軍主宰之耳矣。爾在世時、飽暖逸樂、窮奢極侈、以奉爾身；不敬天主、縱情恣慾、以快爾志。
