不要為明天自誇，因為你不知道每天會發生何事。

他自己心裏想：『我的出產沒有地方儲藏，怎麼辦呢？』就說：『我要這麼辦：要把我的倉庫拆了，另蓋更大的，在那裏好儲藏我一切的糧食和財物，然後要對我自己說：你這個人哪，你有許多財物積存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快樂吧！』上帝卻對他說：『無知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

他們彼此商量說：「來，讓我們來做磚，把磚燒透了。」他們就拿磚當石頭，又拿柏油當泥漿。他們說：「來，讓我們建造一座城和一座塔，塔頂通天。我們要為自己立名，免得我們分散在全地面上。」

那時，百姓如何，祭司也如何；僕人如何，主人也如何；婢女如何，主母也如何；買主如何，賣主也如何；放債的如何，借貸的也如何；債主如何，欠債的也如何。

我心裏說：「來吧，讓我用喜樂試試你，使你享福！」看哪，這也是虛空。

注意！你們這些富足人哪，要為將要臨到你們身上的災難哭泣、號咷。

哀哭的，不像在哀哭；快樂的，不像在快樂；購買的，像一無所得；

來，我們下去，在那裏變亂他們的語言，使他們彼此語言不通。」

現在我告訴你們，我要向我的葡萄園怎麼做。我必撤去籬笆，使它被燒燬；拆毀圍牆，使它被踐踏。

時候到了，日子近了，買主不可歡喜，賣主也不用愁煩，因為烈怒已經臨到他們眾人身上。

這些狗貪食，不知飽足。這些牧人不知明辨，他們都偏行己路，人人追求自己的利益。他們說：「來吧！我去拿酒，讓我們暢飲烈酒吧！明天必和今天一樣，甚至更好！」
