Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?

爾中之戰鬥爭競、奚自哉、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、

戰鬥爭競、何自而來、非欲戰於中而生乎、

爾中戰鬥爭競、何自而來、非自戰於爾百體中之慾乎、

爾中一切鬥爭紛擾、果何由而起？非由爾之情慾交戰於內乎？

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?

Why do you fight and argue among yourselves? Isn’t it because of your sinful desires? They fight within you.

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?

What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from your passions that wage war within you?

What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts?

Whence come wars and whence come fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members?

What is the source of wars and fights among you? Don’t they come from the cravings that are at war within you?

From whence[ come] wars and fightings among you?[ come they] not hence,[ even] of your lusts that war in your members?

Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?

Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?

Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,

But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

“ The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles— when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.

but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell.So the Lord said to Cain,“ Why are you angry? Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world— the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life— is not of the Father but is of the world.And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.

Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,

he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.Now godliness with contentment is great gain.For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
