如是、舌為小體、而誇大焉、些須之火、能燃若大之林、

舌雖小而能誇大、薪甚多、微火可燃、

如是舌為小體、而能誇大、薪甚多、薪甚多或作林甚茂微火可燃、

舌在人身、亦復如是其形雖小、其誇實大。星星之火、可以燎原；

Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

In the same way, the tongue is a small part of a person’s body. But it talks big. Think about how a small spark can set a big forest on fire.

So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

生死之權在舌、好用之者、必食其果、

其心蔽塞、厥口矜誇、

智者之舌、善宣知識、蠢者之口、乃吐愚頑、

姍笑乎人、以惡意發暴語、吐屬高狂兮、口談上天、舌遊全地、

強暴者歟、何為以惡自詡、上帝之慈惠永存兮、爾舌運用邪惡、如銛利之薙刀、詭譎是行兮、

浮躁之言、如鋒刃之刺、智者之舌、有療疾之能、

惡者以心之欲為誇、貪者背棄耶和華、而侮慢之、

彼眾與鄰言誑、厥口諂諛、中懷貳心、諂諛之口、誇大之舌、耶和華必絕之、彼曰、我舌獲勝、口為我有、誰為我主兮、

人子歟、當謂推羅君曰、主耶和華云、爾心驕泰、自謂我為上帝、坐上帝之位於海中、居心同乎上帝、爾仍為人、非上帝也、

彼曰、其來、爾我同謀以攻耶利米、因法律不絕於祭司、謀畧不絕於哲人、預言不絕於先知、來哉、我儕以舌攻之、勿聽其言、○

又予之口、言諸大事、及諸謗讟、又予之權、凡四十有二月、遂啟口出謗讟上帝之言、即其名其幕、並居於天者、

斯人依慾而行、訾議怨尤、口出誇張、為利判人、○

敵云、我將追之、且必及之、分其財物、以厭我心、拔我刀劍、手殲厥眾、

曰、此非大巴比倫、我以大能大力建為王都、彰我威榮乎、

彼謂上帝曰、爾其去我、全能者能為我何為、

爾所侮所謗者為誰、向誰揚爾聲、高爾目、乃以色列之聖者也、爾藉使者侮主云、我率眾車陟於山巔、至利巴嫩之深處、伐其香柏之高者、松木之美者、將入其境之極處、即腴壤之森林、我已掘井而飲異地之水、將以足掌涸竭埃及之河、

若輩對上帝曰、爾其去我、我不願知爾道、全能者誰、致我事之、祈之有何益乎、

蓋其言矜誇虛誕、由形軀之慾、以淫邪誘惑甫脫妄行者、

今爾聞角簫琵琶琴瑟笙、及各樂器之音、願伏拜我所製之像、則可、若不拜之、必即時投於烈火之爐、何神能拯爾於我手耶、

法老曰、耶和華為誰、使我聽其命、而釋以色列民乎、我不識耶和華、亦不釋以色列民、

主耶和華云、埃及王法老乎、我為爾敵、爾乃巨鱷、臥於河中、自謂河為我有、我為己造之、
