再看船只，虽然它那么大，又被狂风吹逐，但是无论舵手的意图想去哪里，它都能被小小的舵来驾驭。

你看，就是船隻雖那麼大，又被強硬的風催逼着，也能被小小的舵所調導，向掌舵者的意思所願去的方向走。

試觀諸舟如彼其大、且為狂風所盪、運以小舵、則隨舵師所欲、

雖有巨舟、為狂風動盪、而小舵得以運轉、隨舟子指揮、

舟雖大、且為狂風飄蕩、而小舵得以運轉、隨舵師所欲、

舟身雖大、且為暴風所驅、而舵師宴然把一小舵、亦能駕駛自如。

Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

And how about ships? They are very big. They are driven along by strong winds. But they are steered by a very small rudder. It makes them go where the captain wants to go.

Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.

And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong.

And consider ships: Though very large and driven by fierce winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.

Look at the ships too: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are nevertheless directed by a very small rudder wherever the inclination of the pilot determines.

他一出令，狂風捲起，波浪翻騰。他們上到天空，下到海底，他們的心因患難而消沉。他們搖搖晃晃，東倒西歪，好像醉酒的人，他們的智慧無法可施。

耶和華在海上颳起大風，海就狂風大作，船幾乎破裂。

過了不久，有一股叫「友拉革羅」的東北巨風從島上撲來，船被風抓住，無法頂風航行，我們只好任它漂流。我們貼着一個叫高大的小島的背風岸急航，好不容易才保住了救生艇。既然把救生艇拉上來，他們就用纜索捆綁船底，又恐怕在賽耳底淺灘上擱淺，就落了篷，任船漂流。我們被風浪逼得很急，第二天眾人就把貨物拋在海裏。第三天，他們又親手把船上的器具拋棄了。許多天都沒有看到太陽和星辰，又有狂風大浪催逼，我們獲救的指望都放棄了。眾人已有好幾天沒有吃東西，保羅就出來站在他們中間，說：「諸位，你們本該聽我的話不離開克里特島，就不致遭到這樣的損失和破壞。現在我勸你們放心，除了損失這條船，你們中間沒有一人會喪失性命。因為昨夜，我所屬所事奉的神的使者站在我旁邊，說：『保羅，不要害怕，你必定站在凱撒面前；並且神已把安全賜給與你同船的人了。』所以，諸位可以放心，我信神怎樣對我說，事情也要怎樣成就；只是我們必須在一個島上擱淺。」到了第十四天夜間，船在亞得里亞海漂來漂去。約在半夜，水手以為漸近旱地，就去探測深淺，探得有十二丈；稍往前行，又探深淺，探得有九丈。恐怕我們撞到礁石，他們就從船尾拋下四個錨，盼望天亮。水手想棄船逃走，把救生艇縋下海裏，假裝要從船頭拋錨的樣子。保羅對百夫長和士兵說：「這些人若不留在船上，你們就不能獲救。」於是士兵砍斷救生艇的繩子，由它漂去。天快亮的時候，保羅勸眾人都用餐，說：「你們一直捱餓等候，不吃甚麼，已經十四天了。所以我勸你們吃點東西，這是關乎你們獲救的，因為你們各人連一根頭髮也不至於掉落。」保羅說了這話，就拿起餅來，在眾人面前祝謝了神，然後擘開來吃。於是他們都放心，就吃了。我們在船上的共有二百七十六個人。他們吃飽了，為要使船輕一點，就把船上的麥子拋到海裏。

海裏忽然起了猛烈的風暴，以致船幾乎被波浪淹沒，耶穌卻睡着了。
