We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

All of us get tripped up in many ways. Suppose someone is never wrong in what they say. Then they are perfect. They are able to keep their whole body under control.

For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body.

Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.

如果有人自以為是虔誠的，卻不克制自己的舌頭，反而欺騙自己的心，這個人的虔誠就是虛妄的。

謹守自己口的，保守自己的性命；口無遮攔的，導致自己的敗亡。

要知道，「那願意愛惜生命、願意見到好日子的人，要停止舌頭出惡言，不讓嘴唇說詭詐的話；

因為憑你的話，你將被稱為義；也憑你的話，你將被定有罪。」

照樣，舌頭雖然是身體上一個小小的部分，卻能大大地自誇。看哪，那麼小的火，能點燃那麼大的森林！舌頭是火，它在我們身體的各部分中，是個不公義的世界；它玷汙全身，焚燒人生的路程，而且自己卻被地獄焚燒。

但要讓忍耐發揮完全的功效，好使你們成熟、完備，在任何事上都沒有缺欠。

然而，經上的話把萬物都圈在罪孽之下，為要使這因信耶穌基督而來的應許，賜給那些相信的人。

世上實在沒有一個行善而不犯罪的義人。

正如經上所記：「沒有義人，連一個也沒有；

他就當謹守舌頭不出惡言，謹守嘴唇不說欺詐的話。

誰能說：「我保持自己的心純潔，我是清潔無罪的」？

因此我發現一個法則：當我願意行善的時候，惡就在我裡面。

然而我不斷克制自己的身體，使它服從我，免得我傳道給別人，自己反而經不起考驗了。

我們都像是不潔淨的人，我們的一切公義都像汙穢的衣服；我們都像葉子那樣凋零，我們的罪孽像風那樣把我們吹去。

我們傳揚基督，用一切的智慧勸誡所有人，教導所有人，好讓我們使所有的人在基督裡成熟，能夠獻給神。

因為肉體的欲望與聖靈對立，聖靈也與肉體對立。這兩者彼此反對，使你們不能做自己所願意做的。

因為那遵守整個律法的人，只在一條上跌倒，就成了干犯所有律法的了。

在一切美善之事上使你們完備，好遵行他的旨意。願神藉著耶穌基督，在我們裡面行他看為喜悅的事。願榮耀歸於他，直到永永遠遠！阿們。

以帕弗拉問候你們；他來自你們那裡，是基督耶穌的奴僕；他在禱告中，總是為你們竭力祈求：願你們成熟、站立得住，在神的一切旨意中確信不疑；

然而，那賜一切恩典的神，就是在基督耶穌裡召喚你們進入他永恆榮耀的那一位，在你們暫時受苦之後，將親自使你們完備、堅固、剛強、根基穩固。
