From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. These things should not be so, my brothers and sisters.

祝頌和咒詛都從同一個口裏出來：我的弟兄們，這是不該這樣的。

祝與詛均出一口、我兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

祝與詛、均由口出、兄弟乎勿如是、

祝讚與咒詛、自一口出、兄弟乎、此非所宜也、

兄弟乎讚美與咒詛、同出一口、有是理乎？

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.

And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!

Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse.

Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless others because you were called to inherit a blessing.

God says this to the evildoer:“ How can you declare my commands, and talk about my covenant?For you hate instruction and reject my words.When you see a thief, you join him; you associate with men who are unfaithful to their wives.You do damage with words, and use your tongue to deceive.You plot against your brother; you slander your own brother.

for you are still influenced by the flesh. For since there is still jealousy and dissension among you, are you not influenced by the flesh and behaving like unregenerate people?

And besides that, going around from house to house they learn to be lazy, and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not.

Stop putting your confidence in the false belief that says,“ We are safe! The temple of the LORD is here! The temple of the LORD is here! The temple of the LORD is here!”You must change the way you have been living and do what is right. You must treat one another fairly.Stop oppressing foreigners who live in your land, children who have lost their fathers, and women who have lost their husbands. Stop killing innocent people in this land. Stop paying allegiance to other gods. That will only bring about your ruin.If you stop doing these things, I will allow you to continue to live in this land which I gave to your ancestors as a lasting possession.“‘ But just look at you! You are putting your confidence in a false belief that will not deliver you.You steal. You murder. You commit adultery. You lie when you swear on oath. You sacrifice to the god Baal. You pay allegiance to other gods whom you have not previously known.Then you come and stand in my presence in this temple I have claimed as my own and say,“ We are safe!” You think you are so safe that you go on doing all those hateful sins!

Her leaders take bribes when they decide legal cases, her priests proclaim rulings for profit, and her prophets read omens for pay. Yet they claim to trust the LORD and say,“ The LORD is among us. Disaster will not overtake us!”

Abimelech summoned Abraham and said to him,“ What have you done to us? What sin did I commit against you that would cause you to bring such great guilt on me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done!”

But she said to him,“ No, my brother! Don’t humiliate me! This just isn’t done in Israel! Don’t do this foolish thing!
