You have taken notice, for you always see one who inflicts pain and suffering. The unfortunate victim entrusts his cause to you; you deliver the fatherless.

The one who oppresses the poor to increase his own gain and the one who gives to the rich– both end up only in poverty.

do you pay attention to the one who is finely dressed and say,“ You sit here in a good place,” and to the poor person,“ You stand over there,” or“ Sit on the floor”?

The LORD comes to pronounce judgment on the leaders of his people and their officials. He says,“ It is you who have ruined the vineyard! You have stashed in your houses what you have stolen from the poor.Why do you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor?” The sovereign LORD who commands armies has spoken.

Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

His victims are crushed and beaten down; they are trapped in his sturdy nets.

Listen to this message, you cows of Bashan who live on Mount Samaria! You oppress the poor; you crush the needy. You say to your husbands,“ Bring us more to drink!”

However, a poor but wise man lived in the city, and he could have delivered the city by his wisdom, but no one listened to that poor man.So I concluded that wisdom is better than might, but a poor man’s wisdom is despised; no one ever listens to his advice.

He waits in ambush near the villages; in hidden places he kills the innocent. His eyes look for some unfortunate victim.

If you see the extortion of the poor, or the perversion of justice and fairness in the government, do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, and there are higher ones over them!

You pierce the heads of his warriors with a spear. They storm forward to scatter us; they shout with joy as if they were plundering the poor with no opposition.

Then the commander of the temple guard went with the officers and brought the apostles without the use of force( for they were afraid of being stoned by the people).When they had brought them, they stood them before the council, and the high priest questioned them,

While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the commander of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,angry because they were teaching the people and announcing in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.So they seized them and put them in jail until the next day( for it was already evening).
