So the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.

於是古經所載亞伯漢因信天主而成聖、且稱為「天主之友」云者、乃獲當然之補充、而厥義大備矣。

And the scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

That is what Scripture means where it says,“ Abraham believed God. God accepted Abraham because he believed. So his faith made him right with God.”( Genesis 15:6) And that’s not all. God called Abraham his friend.

and the Scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”— and he was called a friend of God.

And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness,

For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness.Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed.But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness.Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man God credits righteousness to apart from works:

Therefore, it was credited to him for righteousness.Now it was credited to him was not written for Abraham alone,but also for us. It will be credited to us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.You are My friends if you do what I command you.I do not call you slaves anymore, because a slave doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from My Father.

The Lord spoke with Moses face to face, just as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his assistant, the young man Joshua son of Nun, would not leave the inside of the tent.

They crucified two criminals with Him, one on His right and one on His left.

He began by saying to them,“ Today as you listen, this Scripture has been fulfilled.”

I wish that someone might arbitrate between a man and God just as a man pleads for his friend.

Haven’t you read this Scripture: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

For the Scripture tells Pharaoh: I raised you up for this reason so that I may display My power in you and that My name may be proclaimed in all the earth.

Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and told the good news ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you.So those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith.For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written: Everyone who does not continue doing everything written in the book of the law is cursed.

God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or don’t you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah— how he pleads with God against Israel?

In what way then was it credited— while he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while he was circumcised, but uncircumcised.And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.

“ Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit through the mouth of David spoke in advance about Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

But the Scripture has imprisoned everything under sin’s power, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness,

For it is contained in Scripture: Look! I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and honored cornerstone, and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame!
