Suppose one of you says to them,“ Go. I hope everything turns out fine for you. Keep warm. Eat well.” And suppose you do nothing about what they really need. Then what good have you done?

你们中间有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱”，却不给他们身体所需用的，这有什么益处呢？

你们中间有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱”，却不给他们身体所需要的，这有什么益处呢？

你们中间有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱”，却不给他们身体所需要的，这有什么益处呢？

你们只是对他们说：“安心走吧，愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱”，却不帮助他解决实际困难，这有什么用呢？

而你们中间有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖，吃得饱。”却不给他们身体所需用的，那有什么用处呢？

而你们当中有人对他们说：“平平安安地去吧！愿你们穿得暖、吃得饱！”，却不给他们身体所需要的，这有什么好处呢？

爾中或語之曰、安然而往、願爾溫飽、而不予以身之所需、則何益哉、

而爾曰、安然以往、願爾得溫飽、如不以彼所需賜之、何益之有、

爾中有人謂之曰、安然以往、願爾溫飽、不以其身所需予之、何益之有、

而爾謂之曰：『安心以去、吾信汝必得溫飽；』而不給以切身所需之物、則亦何所裨益。

If one of you says to them,“ Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?

and you say,“ Good bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?

and one of you says to them,“ Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?

and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it?

And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be[ ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what[ doth it] profit?

and one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, keep warm and eat well,” but you do not give them what the body needs, what good is it?

and one of you tells them,“ Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?

Don’t hold back good from those who are worthy of it. Don’t hold it back when you can help.Suppose you already have something to give. Don’t say to your neighbor,“ Come back tomorrow. I’ll give it to you then.”

We know what love is because Jesus Christ gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for our brothers and sisters.Suppose someone sees a brother or sister in need and is able to help them. And suppose that person doesn’t take pity on these needy people. Then how can the love of God be in that person?Dear children, don’t just talk about love. Put your love into action. Then it will truly be love.

I was hungry. But you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty. But you gave me nothing to drink.I was a stranger. But you did not invite me in. I needed clothes. But you did not give me any. I was sick and in prison. But you did not take care of me.’“ They also will answer,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty and not help you? When did we see you as a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison and not help you?’“ He will reply,‘ What I’m about to tell you is true. Anything you didn’t do for one of the least important of these, you didn’t do for me.’

Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good.

I am not commanding you to do it. But I want to test you. I want to find out if you really love God. I want to compare your love with that of others.

Then Jesus called for his disciples to come to him. He said,“ I feel deep concern for these people. They have already been with me three days. They don’t have anything to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry. If I do, they will become too weak on their way home.”

When it was almost evening, the disciples came to him.“ There is nothing here,” they said.“ It’s already getting late. Send the crowds away. They can go and buy some food in the villages.”Jesus replied,“ They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

You didn’t give any water to people who were tired. You held food back from those who were hungry.You did it even though you were honored and powerful. You owned land and lived on it.But you sent widows away without anything. You mistreated children whose fathers had died.
