No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near[ me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

As also in all[ his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as[ they do] also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.

Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
