For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.

因为听道而不行道的，就像人对着镜子看自己本来的面目，

因为只听道而不行道的，就像人对着镜子观看自己本来的面目，

因为只听道而不行道的，就像人对着镜子观看自己本来的面目，

因为人听道而不行道，就像照镜子一样，

因为人若只作听道的人，不作行道的人，他就像一个人对着镜子看自己本来的面貌，

因为，如果有人是这话语的听者，而不是实行者，这个人就像人对着镜子观看自己生来的面貌，

因為聽道而不行道的，就像人對着鏡子看自己本來的面目，

因為只聽道而不行道的，就像人對着鏡子觀看自己本來的面目，

因為只聽道而不行道的，就像人對着鏡子觀看自己本來的面目，

因為人聽道而不行道，就像照鏡子一樣，

因為人若只作聽道的人，不作行道的人，他就像一個人對著鏡子看自己本來的面貌，

因為人若只是聽道、而不實行，就像一個人用鏡子察看自己生來的面貌。

因為，如果有人是這話語的聽者，而不是實行者，這個人就像人對著鏡子觀看自己生來的面貌，

蓋聞道而不行者、猶人觀本來面目於鏡、

聞而不行者、譬人以鏡鑒面、

蓋聞道而不行者、譬諸人以鏡觀己之本來面目、

若是之人、猶如以鑑自照、

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror

Suppose someone listens to the word but doesn’t do what it says. Then they are like a person who looks at their face in a mirror.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror;

For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror:

Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if someone merely listens to the message and does not live it out, he is like someone who gazes at his own face in a mirror.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing,and you say,“ Good bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”— but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.Now someone may argue,“ Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say,“ How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road.Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

So my people come pretending to be sincere and sit before you. They listen to your words, but they have no intention of doing what you say. Their mouths are full of lustful words, and their hearts seek only after money.You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say, but they don’t act on it!
