These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

When these desires are allowed to remain, they lead to sin. And when sin is allowed to remain and grow, it leads to death.

Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death.

No one cares about being fair and honest. The people’s lawsuits are based on lies. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin.

When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break.Still, everyone died— from the time of Adam to the time of Moses— even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What sorrow awaits you who lie awake at night, thinking up evil plans. You rise at dawn and hurry to carry them out, simply because you have the power to do so.When you want a piece of land, you find a way to seize it. When you want someone’s house, you take it by fraud and violence. You cheat a man of his property, stealing his family’s inheritance.But this is what the Lord says:“ I will reward your evil with evil; you won’t be able to pull your neck out of the noose. You will no longer walk around proudly, for it will be a terrible time.”

The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.

And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

But there was a certain man named Ananias who, with his wife, Sapphira, sold some property.He brought part of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount. With his wife’s consent, he kept the rest.Then Peter said,“ Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself.

The traitor, Judas, had given them a prearranged signal:“ You will know which one to arrest when I greet him with a kiss.”So Judas came straight to Jesus.“ Greetings, Rabbi!” he exclaimed and gave him the kiss.Jesus said,“ My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.” Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him.But one of the men with Jesus pulled out his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, slashing off his ear.“ Put away your sword,” Jesus told him.“ Those who use the sword will die by the sword.Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”Then Jesus said to the crowd,“ Am I some dangerous revolutionary, that you come with swords and clubs to arrest me? Why didn’t you arrest me in the Temple? I was there teaching every day.But this is all happening to fulfill the words of the prophets as recorded in the Scriptures.” At that point, all the disciples deserted him and fled.Then the people who had arrested Jesus led him to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of religious law and the elders had gathered.Meanwhile, Peter followed him at a distance and came to the high priest’s courtyard. He went in and sat with the guards and waited to see how it would all end.Inside, the leading priests and the entire high council were trying to find witnesses who would lie about Jesus, so they could put him to death.

And to the man he said,“ Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains.By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return.”

but he did not accept Cain and his gift. This made Cain very angry, and he looked dejected.“ Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain.“ Why do you look so dejected?You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”One day Cain suggested to his brother,“ Let’s go out into the fields.” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother, Abel, and killed him.

The wicked will go down to the grave. This is the fate of all the nations who ignore God.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests

Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death.And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.
