太陽帶著熱氣升起，草地枯萎，草上的花也凋謝，它表面的美麗也就消逝了；照樣，富有的人在他的追求中，也將衰殘。

烈日以曝之、毒熱以薰之、而草槁矣、而花落矣、而其美亡矣。富貴之終歸衰落亦復如是。

For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

The hot sun rises and the grass withers; the little flower droops and falls, and its beauty fades away. In the same way, the rich will fade away with all of their achievements.

可以得着不能朽坏、不能玷污、不能衰残、为你们存留在天上的基业。

就用比喻对他们说：“有一个财主田产丰盛；自己心里思想说：‘我的出产没有地方收藏，怎么办呢？’又说：‘我要这么办：要把我的仓房拆了，另盖更大的，在那里好收藏我一切的粮食和财物，然后要对我的灵魂说：灵魂哪，你有许多财物积存，可作多年的费用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快乐吧！’神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’凡为自己积财，在神面前却不富足的，也是这样。”

我的心被伤，如草枯干，甚至我忘记吃饭。

“有一个财主穿着紫色袍和细麻布衣服，天天奢华宴乐。又有一个讨饭的，名叫拉撒路，浑身生疮，被人放在财主门口，要得财主桌子上掉下来的零碎充饥，并且狗来舔他的疮。后来那讨饭的死了，被天使带去放在亚伯拉罕的怀里。财主也死了，并且埋葬了。他在阴间受痛苦，举目远远地望见亚伯拉罕，又望见拉撒路在他怀里，就喊着说：‘我祖亚伯拉罕哪，可怜我吧！打发拉撒路来，用指头尖蘸点水，凉凉我的舌头；因为我在这火焰里，极其痛苦。’亚伯拉罕说：‘儿啊，你该回想你生前享过福，拉撒路也受过苦；如今他在这里得安慰，你倒受痛苦。

日头出来一晒，因为没有根，就枯干了；

我见过恶人大有势力，好像一棵青翠树在本土生发。有人从那里经过，不料，他没有了；我也寻找他，却寻不着。

嗐！你们这些富足人哪，应当哭泣、号啕，因为将有苦难临到你们身上。你们的财物坏了，衣服也被虫子咬了。你们的金银都长了锈；那锈要证明你们的不是，又要吃你们的肉，如同火烧。你们在这末世只知积攒钱财。工人给你们收割庄稼，你们亏欠他们的工钱，这工钱有声音呼叫，并且那收割之人的冤声已经入了万军之主的耳了。你们在世上享美福，好宴乐，当宰杀的日子竟娇养你们的心。你们定了义人的罪，把他杀害，他也不抵挡你们。弟兄们哪，你们要忍耐，直到主来。看哪，农夫忍耐等候地里宝贵的出产，直到得了秋雨春雨。

用世物的，要像不用世物，因为这世界的样子将要过去了。

我的年日如日影偏斜；我也如草枯干。

次日黎明，神却安排一条虫子咬这蓖麻，以致枯槁。日头出来的时候，神安排炎热的东风，日头曝晒约拿的头，使他发昏，他就为自己求死，说：“我死了比活着还好！”

他的奶桶充满，他的骨髓滋润。有人至死心中痛苦，终身未尝福乐的滋味；他们一样躺卧在尘土中，都被虫子遮盖。“我知道你们的意思，并诬害我的计谋。你们说：‘霸者的房屋在哪里？恶人住过的帐棚在哪里？’你们岂没有询问过路的人吗？不知道他们所引的证据吗？就是恶人在祸患的日子得存留，在发怒的日子得逃脱。

你实在把他们安在滑地，使他们掉在沉沦之中。他们转眼之间成了何等的荒凉！他们被惊恐灭尽了。人睡醒了，怎样看梦；主啊，你醒了也必照样轻看他们的影像。

那些倚仗财货自夸钱财多的人，一个也无法赎自己的弟兄，也不能替他将赎价给神，叫他长远活着，不见朽坏；因为赎他生命的价值极贵，只可永远罢休。

他怎样从母胎赤身而来，也必照样赤身而去；他所劳碌得来的，手中分毫不能带去。

祸哉！以法莲的酒徒，住在肥美谷的山上，他们心里高傲，以所夸的为冠冕，犹如将残之花。

不饥不渴，炎热和烈日必不伤害他们；因为怜恤他们的必引导他们，领他们到水泉旁边。

那荣美将残之花，就是在肥美谷山上的，必像夏令以前初熟的无花果；看见这果的就注意，一到手中就吞吃了。

到了牧长显现的时候，你们必得那永不衰残的荣耀冠冕。
