This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.

And when I scatter them among the nations, they will know that I am the Lord.

In fact, that is why the twelve tribes of Israel zealously worship God night and day, and they share the same hope I have. Yet, Your Majesty, they accuse me for having this hope!

The Jewish leaders were puzzled by this statement.“ Where is he planning to go?” they asked.“ Is he thinking of leaving the country and going to the Jews in other lands? Maybe he will even teach the Greeks!

Saul was one of the witnesses, and he agreed completely with the killing of Stephen. A great wave of persecution began that day, sweeping over the church in Jerusalem; and all the believers except the apostles were scattered through the regions of Judea and Samaria.

In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.

Jesus replied,“ I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

I will scatter you among the nations and bring out my sword against you. Your land will become desolate, and your cities will lie in ruins.

The next day Paul went with us to meet with James, and all the elders of the Jerusalem church were present.

When they had finished, James stood and said,“ Brothers, listen to me.

He motioned for them to quiet down and told them how the Lord had led him out of prison.“ Tell James and the other brothers what happened,” he said. And then he went to another place.

For the Lord will scatter you among all the nations from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship foreign gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods made of wood and stone!

Anyone who wants to serve me must follow me, because my servants must be where I am. And the Father will honor anyone who serves me.

This letter is from Paul and Timothy, slaves of Christ Jesus. I am writing to all of God’s holy people in Philippi who belong to Christ Jesus, including the church leaders and deacons.

then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes. He will have mercy on you and gather you back from all the nations where he has scattered you.

For these laws of Moses have been preached in Jewish synagogues in every city on every Sabbath for many generations.”

He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel,

Then Moses carefully wrote down all the Lord’s instructions. Early the next morning Moses got up and built an altar at the foot of the mountain. He also set up twelve pillars, one for each of the twelve tribes of Israel.

When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James( son of Alphaeus), Simon( the zealot), and Judas( son of James).

For the Lord will scatter you among the nations, where only a few of you will survive.

When he first arrived, he ate with the Gentile believers, who were not circumcised. But afterward, when some friends of James came, Peter wouldn’t eat with the Gentiles anymore. He was afraid of criticism from these people who insisted on the necessity of circumcision.

The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.

Each stone represented one of the twelve sons of Israel, and the name of that tribe was engraved on it like a seal.

Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew( the tax collector), James( son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus,

Then they scoffed,“ He’s just the carpenter’s son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers— James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas.

During the dedication ceremony for the Temple of God, 100 young bulls, 200 rams, and 400 male lambs were sacrificed. And 12 male goats were presented as a sin offering for the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matthew, Thomas, James( son of Alphaeus), Simon( who was called the zealot),

to eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem.

And I heard how many were marked with the seal of God— 144,000 were sealed from all the tribes of Israel:

Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James( son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon( the zealot),

Then Haman approached King Xerxes and said,“ There is a certain race of people scattered through all the provinces of your empire who keep themselves separate from everyone else. Their laws are different from those of any other people, and they refuse to obey the laws of the king. So it is not in the king’s interest to let them live.

I would have annihilated them, wiping out even the memory of them.
