Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord.

“ Look, the days are coming”— this is the LORD’s declaration—“ when I will raise up a Righteous Branch for David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the land.In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is the name he will be called: The LORD Is Our Righteousness.

Jesus came near and said to them,“ All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.

And he has a name written on his robe and on his thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know the true one. We are in the true one— that is, in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was with God in the beginning.

See, the virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and they will name him Immanuel, which is translated“ God is with us.”

This also comes from the LORD of Armies. He gives wondrous advice; he gives great wisdom.

He did not even spare his own Son but gave him up for us all. How will he not also with him grant us everything?

And most certainly, the mystery of godliness is great: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

But he was pierced because of our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on him, and we are healed by his wounds.

The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the Mighty God.

Again, I will trust in him. And again, Here I am with the children God gave me.Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death— that is, the devil—

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Your throne, God, is forever and ever; the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

For he must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet.

and through him to reconcile everything to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds as expressed in your evil actions.

while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us— our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption—

For he is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. In his flesh,he made of no effect the law consisting of commands and expressed in regulations, so that he might create in himself one new man from the two, resulting in peace.He did this so that he might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross by which he put the hostility to death.He came and proclaimed the good news of peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

All things have been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

“ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.

“ Why do you ask my name,” the angel of the LORD asked him,“ since it is beyond understanding?”

Yet you are our Father, even though Abraham does not know us and Israel doesn’t recognize us. You, LORD, are our Father; your name is Our Redeemer from Ancient Times.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem. The bow of war will be removed, and he will proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

He sent the message to the Israelites, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ— he is Lord of all.

I was formed before ancient times, from the beginning, before the earth began.

but to the Son: Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of justice.

Indeed, we have all received grace upon grace from his fullness,

May the righteous flourish in his days and well-being abound until the moon is no more.

He grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground. He didn’t have an impressive form or majesty that we should look at him, no appearance that we should desire him.

Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city— to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin, to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place.Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until an Anointed One, the ruler, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be rebuilt with a plaza and a moat, but in difficult times.

Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus— the great Shepherd of the sheep— through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

The angel replied to her,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

I will clothe him with your robe and tie your sash around him. I will hand your authority over to him, and he will be like a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.I will place the key of the house of David on his shoulder; what he opens, no one can close; what he closes, no one can open.

That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us.

for I will give you such words and a wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.

far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come.And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church,

Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors!

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will declare the LORD’s decree. He said to me,“ You are my Son; today I have become your Father.Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with an iron scepter; you will shatter them like pottery.”So now, kings, be wise; receive instruction, you judges of the earth.Serve the LORD with reverential awe and rejoice with trembling.Pay homage to the Son or he will be angry and you will perish in your rebellion, for his anger may ignite at any moment. All who take refuge in him are happy.

How long will you turn here and there, faithless daughter? For the LORD creates something new in the land— a female will shelter a man.

Yet the LORD was pleased to crush him severely. When you make him a guilt offering, he will see his seed, he will prolong his days, and by his hand, the LORD’s pleasure will be accomplished.

May the mountains bring well-being to the people and the hills, righteousness.

Mighty warrior, strap your sword at your side. In your majesty and splendor—

This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over your surrounding enemies.Your people will volunteer on your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to you.The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back:“ You are a priest forever according to the pattern of Melchizedek.”

For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God, showing no partiality and taking no bribe.

The wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the goat. The calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf will be together, and a child will lead them.The cow and the bear will graze, their young ones will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like cattle.An infant will play beside the cobra’s pit, and a toddler will put his hand into a snake’s den.They will not harm or destroy each other on my entire holy mountain, for the land will be as full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is filled with water.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.We have also obtained access through him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.This hope will not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.For while we were still helpless, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.For rarely will someone die for a just person— though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.How much more then, since we have now been justified by his blood, will we be saved through him from wrath.For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.

and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means king of righteousness, then also, king of Salem, meaning king of peace.Without father, mother, or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.

Faithful love and truth will join together; righteousness and peace will embrace.

So now, our God— the great, mighty, and awe-inspiring God who keeps his gracious covenant— do not view lightly all the hardships that have afflicted us, our kings and leaders, our priests and prophets, our ancestors and all your people, from the days of the Assyrian kings until today.

The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks; he summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.

LORD, you will establish peace for us, for you have also done all our work for us.

For this is what the LORD says: I will make peace flow to her like a river, and the wealth of nations like a flood; you will nurse and be carried on her hip and bounced on her lap.

You are to tell him: This is what the LORD of Armies says: Here is a man whose name is Branch; he will branch out from his place and build the LORD’s temple.Yes, he will build the LORD’s temple; he will bear royal splendor and will sit on his throne and rule. There will be a priest on his throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two of them.

It will be said about me,‘ Righteousness and strength are found only in the LORD.’” All who are enraged against him will come to him and be put to shame.All the descendants of Israel will be justified and boast in the LORD.

May his name endure forever; as long as the sun shines, may his fame increase. May all nations be blessed by him and call him blessed.

Here I am with the children the LORD has given me to be signs and wonders in Israel from the LORD of Armies who dwells on Mount Zion.

Then a shoot will grow from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, a Spirit of counsel and strength, a Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

He will stand and shepherd them in the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD his God. They will live securely, for then his greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.He will be their peace. When Assyria invades our land, when it marches against our fortresses, we will raise against it seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.

The ancestors are theirs, and from them, by physical descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, praised forever. Amen.
