昔米田人虐遇斯民、負以重軛、加以鞭扑、爾拯救之、折其杖箠、迄於今、亦若是、

蓋民所負之重軛、所加於其肩之任、並督之之杖、主悉折斷、如罰米甸之日、

For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.

You set Israel free from Midian long ago. In the same way, you will break the heavy yoke that weighs Israel down. You will break the wooden beams that are on their shoulders. You will break the rods of those who strike them down.

For the yoke of his burden, and the staff for his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, you have broken as on the day of Midian.

For you will break the yoke of their slavery and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders. You will break the oppressor’s rod, just as you did when you destroyed the army of Midian.

For you have shattered their oppressive yoke and the rod on their shoulders, the staff of their oppressor, just as you did on the day of Midian.

For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian.

For their oppressive yoke and the club that strikes their shoulders, the cudgel the oppressor uses on them, you have shattered, as in the day of Midian’s defeat.

to break Assyria in My land, and I will trample him on My mountains. Then his yoke will be removed from them, and his burden removed from their shoulders.

The Lord of armies will wield a whip against him like the defeat of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and His staff will be over the sea, and He will lift it up the way He did in Egypt.So it will be on that day, that his burden will be removed from your shoulders, and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of fatness.

So now, I will break his yoke from upon you, And I will tear your shackles to pieces.”

In righteousness you will be established; You will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; And from terror, for it will not come near you.

Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their armies with them, about fifteen thousand men, all who were left of the entire army of the people of the east; for the fallen were 120,000 swordsmen.Gideon went up by the way of those who lived in tents to the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and he attacked the camp when the camp was unsuspecting.When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued them and captured the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and routed the entire army.

‘ It shall come about on that day,’ declares the Lord of armies,‘ that I will break his yoke from their necks and will tear to pieces their restraints; and strangers will no longer make them their slaves.

For at the voice of the Lord Assyria will be terrified, When He strikes with the rod.And every blow of the rod of punishment, Which the Lord will lay on him, Will be with the music of tambourines and lyres; And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them.

And it will be on the day when the Lord gives you rest from your hardship, your turmoil, and from the harsh service in which you have been enslaved,that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon, and say,“ How the oppressor has ceased, And how the onslaught has ceased!The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of rulers,

I will feed your oppressors with their own flesh, And they will become drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine; And humanity will know that I, the Lord, am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

For the scepter of wickedness will not rest upon the land of the righteous, So that the righteous will not extend their hands to do wrong.

I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke your yoke and made you walk erect.

And by your sword you shall live, And you shall serve your brother; But it shall come about when you become restless, That you will break his yoke from your neck.”

Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,Who were destroyed at En dor, Who became like dung for the ground.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, And all their leaders like Zebah and Zalmunna,

Then the sons of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord handed them over to Midian for seven years.The power of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of Midian the sons of Israel made for themselves the dens which were in the mountains and the caves and the strongholds.For whenever Israel had sown, the Midianites would come up with the Amalekites and the people of the east and march against them.So they would camp against them and destroy the produce of the earth as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance in Israel, nor a sheep, ox, or donkey.For they would come up with their livestock and their tents, they would come in like locusts in number, and both they and their camels were innumerable; and they came into the land to ruin it.So Israel was brought very low because of Midian, and the sons of Israel cried out to the Lord.

And when they blew the three hundred trumpets, the Lord set the sword of one against another even throughout the entire army; and the army fled as far as Beth shittah toward Zererah, as far as the edge of Abel meholah, by Tabbath.And the men of Israel were summoned from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh, and they pursued Midian.Then Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim, saying,“ Come down against Midian and take control of the waters ahead of them, as far as Beth barah and the Jordan.” So all the men of Ephraim were summoned, and they took control of the waters as far as Beth barah and the Jordan.And they captured the two leaders of Midian, Oreb and Zeeb, and they killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb, and they killed Zeeb at the wine press of Zeeb, while they pursued Midian; and they brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon from across the Jordan.

Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger And the staff in whose hands is My indignation,

I was angry with My people, I profaned My heritage And handed them over to you. You did not show mercy to them, On the aged you made your yoke very heavy.

That you have forgotten the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth, That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, As he makes ready to destroy? And where is the rage of the oppressor?
