For Yahweh has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets; and he has covered your heads, the seers.

For there will arise false christs, and false prophets, and they will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen ones.

preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all patience and teaching.For the time will come when they will not listen to the sound doctrine, but having itching ears, will heap up for themselves teachers after their own lusts,

He said to him,“ I also am a prophet as you are; and an angel spoke to me by Yahweh’s word, saying,‘ Bring him back with you into your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’” He lied to him.

Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive.

The beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who worked the signs in his sight, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

Concerning the prophets: My heart within me is broken. All my bones shake. I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine has overcome, because of Yahweh, and because of his holy words.

“ Therefore I have also made you contemptible and wicked before all the people, according to the way you have not kept my ways, but have had respect for persons in the law.

Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are famished, and their multitudes are parched with thirst.

“ I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in my name, saying,‘ I had a dream! I had a dream!’How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart?They intend to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they each tell his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name because of Baal.

Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in my name:“ Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and he will kill them before your eyes.A curse will be taken up about them by all the captives of Judah who are in Babylon, saying,‘ Yahweh make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;’

But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you any“ good news” other than that which we preached to you, let him be cursed.As we have said before, so I now say again: if any man preaches to you any“ good news” other than that which you received, let him be cursed.

Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

The servant said to him,“ Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and he is a man who is held in honor. All that he says surely happens. Now let’s go there. Perhaps he can tell us which way to go.”

Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying,‘ You shall not serve the king of Babylon;’ for they prophesy a lie to you.For I have not sent them,” says Yahweh,“ but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

Yahweh said to him,‘ How?’ He said,‘ I will go out and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ He said,‘ You will entice him, and will also prevail. Go out and do so.’Now therefore, behold, Yahweh has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and Yahweh has spoken evil concerning you.”Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said,“ Which way did Yahweh’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as Christ’s apostles.And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.It is no great thing therefore if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?

Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet,“ Listen, Hananiah! Yahweh has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie.Therefore Yahweh says,‘ Behold, I will send you away from off the surface of the earth. This year you will die, because you have spoken rebellion against Yahweh.’”

Then Yahweh said to me,“ The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I didn’t send them. I didn’t command them. I didn’t speak to them. They prophesy to you a lying vision, divination, and a thing of nothing, and the deceit of their own heart.Therefore Yahweh says concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name, but I didn’t send them, yet they say,‘ Sword and famine will not be in this land.’ Those prophets will be consumed by sword and famine.

The people will be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor. The child will behave himself proudly against the old man, and the wicked against the honorable.

A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.

But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.

But as for you, don’t listen to your prophets, to your diviners, to your dreams, to your soothsayers, or to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying,“ You shall not serve the king of Babylon;”for they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, so that I would drive you out, and you would perish.

Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,“ Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy, and say to those who prophesy out of their own heart,‘ Hear Yahweh’s word:The Lord Yahweh says,“ Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.You have not gone up into the gaps or built up the wall for the house of Israel, to stand in the battle in Yahweh’s day.They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say,‘ Yahweh says;’ but Yahweh has not sent them. They have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed.Haven’t you seen a false vision, and haven’t you spoken a lying divination, in that you say,‘ Yahweh says;’ but I have not spoken?”“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ Because you have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you,” says the Lord Yahweh.“ My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who utter lying divinations. They will not be in the council of my people, neither will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord Yahweh.”“‘ Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying,“ Peace;” and there is no peace. When one builds up a wall, behold, they plaster it with whitewash.Tell those who plaster it with whitewash that it will fall. There will be an overflowing shower; and you, great hailstones, will fall. A stormy wind will tear it.Behold, when the wall has fallen, won’t it be said to you,“ Where is the plaster with which you have plastered it?”“‘ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:“ I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath. There will be an overflowing shower in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.So I will break down the wall that you have plastered with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered. It will fall, and you will be consumed in the middle of it. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.Thus I will accomplish my wrath on the wall, and on those who have plastered it with whitewash. I will tell you,‘ The wall is no more, neither those who plastered it;to wit, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her, and there is no peace,’” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the plumb line. The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters will overflow the hiding place.

You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls who should not die, and to save the souls alive who should not live, by your lying to my people who listen to lies.’

In the prophets of Jerusalem I have also seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one returns from his wickedness. They have all become to me as Sodom, and its inhabitants as Gomorrah.”Therefore Yahweh of Armies says concerning the prophets:“ Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink poisoned water; for from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”

“ Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.
