But the Lord has strengthened Rezin’s foes against them and has spurred their enemies on.

In spite of that, the Lord has made Rezin’s enemies stronger. He has stirred up Assyria to fight against Israel.

But the Lord raises the adversaries of Rezin against him, and stirs up his enemies.

The LORD has raised up Rezin’s adversaries against him and stirred up his enemies.

Therefore the Lord raises superior adversaries against them from Rezin And provokes their enemies,

Therefore the Lord shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on,

Therefore Jehovah will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,

The Lord has raised up Rezin’s adversaries against him and stirred up his enemies.

Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;

Then the LORD provoked their adversaries to attack them, he stirred up their enemies–

They are rejoicing over what will happen to King Rezin and King Pekah.Therefore, the Lord will overwhelm them with a mighty flood from the Euphrates River— the king of Assyria and all his glory. This flood will overflow all its channels

We destroyed Calno just as we did Carchemish. Hamath fell before us as Arpad did. And we destroyed Samaria just as we did Damascus.Yes, we have finished off many a kingdom whose gods were greater than those in Jerusalem and Samaria.So we will defeat Jerusalem and her gods, just as we destroyed Samaria with hers.’”

So the king of Assyria attacked the Aramean capital of Damascus and led its population away as captives, resettling them in Kir. He also killed King Rezin.

for Syria is no stronger than its capital, Damascus, and Damascus is no stronger than its king, Rezin. As for Israel, within sixty five years it will be crushed and completely destroyed.

During Pekah’s reign, King Tiglath pileser of Assyria attacked Israel again, and he captured the towns of Ijon, Abel beth maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, and Hazor. He also conquered the regions of Gilead, Galilee, and all of Naphtali, and he took the people to Assyria as captives.

This message came to me concerning Damascus:“ Look, the city of Damascus will disappear! It will become a heap of ruins.The towns of Aroer will be deserted. Flocks will graze in the streets and lie down undisturbed, with no one to chase them away.The fortified towns of Israel will also be destroyed, and the royal power of Damascus will end. All that remains of Syria will share the fate of Israel’s departed glory,” declares the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.“ In that day Israel’s glory will grow dim; its robust body will waste away.The whole land will look like a grainfield after the harvesters have gathered the grain. It will be desolate, like the fields in the valley of Rephaim after the harvest.
